Wisdom Speaks Out From The Past...

Sometimes men make statements not truly understood until they are gone.

I think that Dwight D. Eisenhower was one of those men. I respect most all of his quotes and I find them to be very applicable to our times.

Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists and rebels - men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

There is nothing wrong with America that faith, love of freedom, intelligence, and energy of her citizens cannot cure.
Dwight D. Eisenhower

See what I mean? Now, let's get some coffee, my friend!

Here's another good one from Ike,

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

Hey Eddie...I think that Ike was pretty outspoken for a president, and especially for his time. He seemed to say what he wanted to without worrying about the consiquences.

Must have been an honest man...

Hey, thanks for coming by! See ya this weekend at Gonzales!

No, you won't see me this weekend at Gonzales. I know you think what those people are doing is the right thing, but I disagree with the talk of seceding, and with the extremist politics of those like Chuck Norris.

I like Ike!

Hey Red...I can remember the campaign buttons my folks had from the elections that read "I Like Ike"

Probably worth some money now, if I still had them.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by...

At least American politicians say profound things and actually go one step above making themselves look like complete d$*#heads unlike how I view most of ours here, cant name one Aussie PM Ive admired but there have been many I have laughed at for ridiculousness.

All politicians need to know is they are public servants ... they are here to serve the public, not control them ... but somehow Im not so confident they will EVER remember this minor detail now they have all the power to do as they wish until they upset someone more powerful than they are....

Thats just my uneducated opinion anyway

Thank goodness for the coffee!!! I can understand that this early in the mornings at least hehehe

Hey Missi...I am so glad you could come by this morning!

If nothing else, politicians always give us something to talk about! Too bad that so many don't seem to care about the folks that help elect them...

Thanks so much for coming by, my friend!
