Just Want To Do My Part...!

You know, presently we are all under a lot of stress...what with worrying about the economy, the job market, erosion of our rights and freedoms!

Now top that off with the abundance of winter illnesses, the flu, cost of medication, and the fast approaching holidays...and it's no wonder that many of our friends and family are having trouble keeping a peaceful mind and getting a restful nights sleep!

Hopefully this little list that I got from the Almanac will help to ease the mind and bring on some rest! I just want to do my part for all of my friends, ya know?

Here are herbal remedies to help ease stress, anxiety, and sleep.

Massage the temples with lavender oil.

Drink chamomile tea to ease stress.

Drink rosemary tea to alleviate melancholy or depression.

For a relaxing body rub, soak equal parts finely chopped dandelions, burdock (roots and/or aerial parts), yellow dock, and lobelia in 1 quart rubbing alcohol for two weeks. Apply externally.

Trying to remain relaxed but alert? Some studies suggest that the smell of apples, apple cider vinegar, or spiced apples have this effect. The right smell can make all the difference. Salty sea air is said to help in getting to sleep more easily.

A tea of elderberry flowers is considered relaxing to the nerves and is sleep inducing.

For insomnia, drink bee balm or chamomile tea and eat mandarin oranges.

Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessings.
–Publius Syrus (c. 42 BC)

I do hope that this helps a little...and that you can find it useful!

Now, my friends, let's get some coffee and sit outside for a bit...I know that is good for relieving a bit of stress!

hi unclehermitjim! great to drop by today and thanks much for your helpful hints. those things about lavender oil and chamomile are great stuff! mikaela (my daughter) had insomnia for about 3 months and chamomile tea helped her a lot.

indeed, having a good, positive outlook in life plus believing that "the sun sets only to rise again" are cool assurances for going through life with a breeze! remember our recent typhoon disaster? Filipinos have a resilience that's just great! i've visited some of the worst hit areas, and lo and behold! they're moving on and starting from scratch and oh, yes with all smiles, full of hopes and dreams!

let's have that coffee now while i send you warm hugs and smiles from our 30 deg celsius weather!

Hey WW...
Good to see you again, Lady! I was wondering where you were!

I'm glad the people are picking up the pieces and starting again...that's always good news!

The warm hugs are always welcome...and I'll return them to you twice over!

Thank you for dropping in...and tell your dear Mother hello for me, OK?

Stress? What stress?
In the winter of 1950 we were up to our butts in snow and four million screaming chinamen were trying to kill us all.
Since then everything seems ok to me.

Good Morning My Special One, great post, Not a big tea drinker but these sound like good ones for stress and the not sleeping tea I will pass to my #2 daughter who has a sleeping problem.
Lets have some sit down time on the patio and another cup with all our friends. :)

Hmm...maybe if I make some of these recipes, package 'em up, and sell 'em, I can pay my bills and won't have any more stress. Genius, Mister Hermit, sir!!

I used to grow chamomile, and lavender. Perhaps I will again, one day.

Shade and Sweetwater,
K

Hey Vlad...
Kinda helps to put things into perspective, doesn't it?

Hey, I sure appreciate you dropping by today!

Hey Rae...
I appreciate the kind comments this morning! Sad, isn't it, that what should be the happiest time of the year can ring on such stress and worry!

Maybe we should just change our focus and try to enjoy what blessings we have!

Thanks so much for coming by today!

Hey JoJo...
I do hope that one of these can help with the not sleeping for the daughter! I know that can b a real problem for some.

I am sure glad to see you today, sweetie! Coffee in your special cup coming up!

Hey K...
Sounds like a workable plan to me! You never know until you try! I say "go for it!"

Thanks so much for coming by today!

I have a number of books on herbal remedies and the like. I keep INTENDING on reading these, but it keeps getting pushed to the back of the To Do list.

Your list is a perfect example. Many people are negatively affected by the lack of sun during the winter months (my wife, for instance) and this is the exact kind of stuff we should be doing.

Gotta move it up the To Do list! Nice "kick in the butt" post!

Hey OGT...
Back in the 50s, it wasn't called a war. It was given the name of "police action". I would like for anyone to try and convince the troops that fought and froze while fighting the enemy...that they were NOT in a war!

Hey, thanks or coming by today, my friend!

Hey Chief...
Thanks! there are a lot of people that have a rough time of it in the Winter months, due to the lessening sunlight!

Books that offer "home remedies" are a handy thing to have around, for sure!

Thanks for coming by today!

Good advice! Let me add one thing. If You feel a bit depressed, put some St. John's wort in Your tee a couple of days. Soon You feel so much better!
have a great day now!
Christer.

Hey Christer...
Thanks for sharing that about the St. John's Wort! I haven't heard that one before...

Thanks for the visit today, my friend!
