Very Late Post Today...!
What with the rain and picture taking and visiting and all the rest...it is a very late and short post today!
This might just be a timely post if you are getting all the same kind of storms we are here in Houston!
We still haven't made it to the San Jacinto Battlegrounds yet, but we are going to try again tomorrow! The weather just won't co-operate! Hope you like this short bit of information from the Old Farmer's Almanac!
There are many superstitions about summer thunder.
Some believe that it will frighten the beans into growing.
Others say that thunder in the morning brings wind, while a noon thunder brings rain and an evening thunder brings a tempest.
If there’s lightning without thunder, fair weather is on the way.
As for wind direction, “Thunder and lightning in the summer show, / The point from which the freshening breeze will blow.”
I'll get the pictures posted as soon as I can, and introduce you to my friend from New Zealand!
In the meanwhile, coffee is in the regular spot...so help yourself!

Just wanted to say hi.
Hi!
Don't forget to take your guest to the Space Center. Moody Gardens in Galveston are also neat for visitors.
I enjoy out-of-state visitors. It is like a mini-vacation for me. I take them places that I wouldn't otherwise go. Why, you ask. Well, too close to home. . .
Better late than never as we say over here :-)
Good thing I didn´t sow my beans this yearv then :-)
have a great day now!
Christer.
Send that rain out west - I would love it! Sorry you have had to experience weather delays - but it certainly leads to more visiting time!
Guess we understand, enjoy the culture exchange. There are so many things to see in and around Houston I know you won't have time to take her to all of them. But do your best!!
thanks for updating us
Had fun and thunder here, too the past couple of days. Was walking from the store and a storm caught me afoot. The thunder and rain weren't too bad...but a nearby lightning strike got me scampering home double-quick! Family legend has it that a couple of reltives were struck by lightning at a church picnic in the 1870s, one lived, one died.
Perhaps the Almighty's aim was off yesterday, but it was still a little too close for comfort!
HJ we sure could use some - make that a lot of rain here on the VA eastern shore, so if you don't need any...glad you are having a grand time with your visiting friend, despite the weather!
It has rained so much here in central communist Illinois the corn is over my head already and starting to tassel. Hot and humid too. Thank God for central air. have fun with you visitor.
