I guess this just shows that some judges have good taste in music, but a little bit strange outlook on justice.
Of course, it IS Willie we are talking about! I guess it's a good thing that the judge doesn't like rap music!

EL PASO, Texas — A West Texas prosecutor says that singer Willie Nelson can resolve marijuana possession charges if he agrees to plead guilty, pay a fine and sing "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" for the court.
County Attorney Kit Bramblett told The Associated Press Friday that he recommended those penalties to Hudspeth County's judge Becky Dean-Walker. Bramblett says the judge specifically demanded that Nelson appear in court instead of pleading by mail, a common procedure in these cases.
Bramblett says, "She wants to meet Willie."
Dean-Walker did not immediately return a call Friday.
Nelson was arrested for possession of marijuana on Nov. 26 at a Border Patrol checkpoint after an agent smelled an odor coming from the vehicle and decided to search it.
Nelson's spokeswoman declined to comment.
Wonder if this would work for the rest of us if we had to go to court? Probably not! Most of us are just not rich enough or famous enough to be that special!
Let's get some fresh coffee and sit in the kitchen for a bit. Looks like rain, I think!

I'm of 2 minds here.
1. It's illegal and he shouldn't get preferential treatment...
2. But then again, this is Willie - and he's a National treasure! You'll never change the boy, I'm afraid... ;)
Oh, I don't know... Just pass me a cup of that coffee please, and I'll think on it some more!
Hey Tatersmama...
Probably we should give up on changing Willie! Hell, he is older than I am, and got that way doing just as he wants!
Guess what they say is true...you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
Thanks, my friend, for coming by today!
I say leave Willie alone he is almost 77 years old if he still wants to smoke pot in his own bus fine with me, I don't care if its illegal or not. For one thing if they made it legal, we wouldn't have so many rich dealers. For another he has raised so much money for the American farmer, with Farm Aid, that alone should give him a pass. I doubt any of us would get a break but then most of us can't write and sing music like Willie can, I'm with tatersmama, he IS an American treasure.
Can you tell I'm a Willie Fan, Jim? And no I don't smoke pot, I tried it once and even inhaled and then I fell asleep, not much of a trip for me. Have a good week my friend!
Hey Katie...
If they would make it legal, then tax it like they do tobacco...think of how much more money they would have to give away!
I was living in Austin when Willie first started coming to the Armadillo World Headquarters there!
I've always been a big fan! Whole lot of talent there, I think! But then, I'm a little prejudiced.
Thanks so much for coming by this morning!
That don't look like no blue eye to me, but I can't tell if it's crying. You sure it ain't just the eye of the storm?
Legalize, then tax it !
User pay system is better.
You don't use it, you don't pay.
Leave him alone dang it, All the Texas cops know he smokes it, surprised he don't get stopped more often.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em..
But DO NOT bring it in My House!!!
Willie used to own a house here in Cut & Shoot and since Larry Butler gave him his start, when in the neighbor hood, he would set up and play at Larry's place, The Longhorn Ballroom, which has since burned down. Since these "jam" sessions where not planned, no notice was given other than a hand printed sign at the road saying "Willie Tonight". I and my wife attended one night and he, his sister, and his group really put on a great show. Of course he had a fifth of bourbon sitting on the stage at his feet which got emptied by the time he was finished. The place was almost empty, cause nobody knew he was going to be there but he still put on quit a show.
I am with the others, leave Willi be. At his age, pot is more than likely medicinal. :D
Heck, if they'd legalize the stuff and tax it they's make a mint.
Leave W alone, I say!
Awwwww, rain again? I'll never get the garden started at this rate.
How can anyone condone the actions of this judge & prosecutor? She wants to meet him and have a private concert!!!!!
This is not justice; I don’t care if he is a “national treasure” or how old he is.
Chucky
Hey George...
Probably looks a lot bluer after a couple of puffs , if you know what I mean!
Hey, I appreciate you coming by today!
Hey Spud...
Makes perfect sense to me! Put it in the same class with booze and tobacco!
Thanks for the visit this morning, my friend!
Hey Ben...
There comes a point where it's almost silly to try and force folks to change their ways...and for Willie, this is one of them!
There has to be more important things to worry about!
Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!
Hey Dizzy...
Many of his shows were done in places on the spur of the moment. More for the sake of performing than anything!
I had forgotten about his association to Cut and Shoot!
Hey, thanks for coming by today!
Hey Phelan...
You know, you're probably right! Just let him alone!
Hope I can still function that well at his age!
You have a great day, and thanks for coming by this morning!
Hey Momlady...
Then maybe they could give the rest of us a little break on the taxes!
Sorry to hear about your rain again. Typical Springtime showers, I reckon!
I really appreciate you coming by today!
The 'pot'issue is a political game! Apparently people don't realize this: its not the DEALERS getting rich but the BACKERS, those in power of the situation furnishing the money. And who has the most money? Think on it. Naming names would get me in trouble.
Society equates marijuana to alcohol. There is NO comparison, yet when do we hear complaints about alcohol? Never for it brings in big taxes.
Alcohol makes you stagger and get mean. Pot just makes you giggle. Swear it does.
It has been given ugly reviews DELIBERATELY because those in power haven't yet figured how to legalize/tax it AND keep the "Bible thumpers/holier than thou" types quiet.
We have been given a 'snow job' as to its dangers compared to alcohol.
I've never harmed a hair on a head while smoking it for 50 years.I inhale unlike some politicos who swear they don't.
Bulls$(T to their lying and heavy laden wallets and Liars, Liars, Pants on fire! Cocaine is their preference!
THINK! Who benefits from its illegality - those who own the prisons, those who fine and jail is who.
If it is legalized, then who are the cops going to go after? More income is raised by its illegality than would be generated by taxing. It should be kept off the streets though and used in a responsible manner.
I'll sign Anonymous as you may stigmatize me as BAD. As for Willie, he is great, blue eyes included. Isn't he considered pacifist? Potheads are pacifists too.
Now, how about a discussion on that damnable alcohol? I despise drunks! Mean sobs drunks are: Brutal brutes. There is no comparison! If I was in charge, the world would be using pot to calm down and avert wars.
There, I've said it 'out loud'.
Poor Ole' Willie, he is the best, I am with the others leave him be. Make the stuff legal and tax it make the world a better place already. Get rid of these nasty dealers, they are out of control.
It wasn't enough that Willie's fans paid off the I.R.S. for him and he didn't even lose his land?
I tend to agree with Chucky but that puts us in the not very popular minority. I do admire his "Farm-Aid" work but that, in my opinion, does not entitle him to such special treatment. Are we not the very folk that hate to see "the rich or poular" get this very treatment?!
Coffee in the kitchen sounds great as we had a heavy snowfall this a.m. (until after 11).
Hey Chucky...
Seems like some strange things happen in the courtroom these days!
The judges get to be the ones that say what the law is and who has to follow it.
If I remember correctly, the saying goes something like "liberty and JUSTICE for all"!
Thanks, my friend, for coming by today!
Preferential treatment? Maybe we should all learn to sing well to stay out of jail. Then again, with my voice, I bet the jailers would parole me out real quickly; dissonance isn't popular,
Headlines such as this keep us non-focused on real tragedies being reported like wars and tsunamis and deaths of millions.
Ha, the human specie is a funny breed of animal.
