Finally, Some Laws That Make Sense...!

After decades of having to deal with the stupidity of some of the state laws being passed by the idiots in charge...Texans may be catching a break!

Effective on the 1st of September, many new laws go into effect! Surprisingly many of these laws appear to be friendly to the average citizen! How that happened is beyond me, but after all the BS that has come down the pike over the last few years...I'll take it!

Below is just a small sampling of some of the most common sense laws in the bunch. As you can tell, some of these actually seem to be born of common sense! Wonder how that happened?

Farmers and ranchers

One new law will make it easier for farmers and ranchers to get their products to farmers' markets by eliminating some restrictions on how the food must be transported. For example, foods can be kept cold with ice chests or other devices, and farmers will not have to bring along an expensive refrigeration unit and generator, as some local officials have required.

That means more profit opportunities for farmers and more selection for consumers, said Judith McGeary, executive director of the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance.

"Consumers have made it very clear," McGeary said. "They want farmers' markets and they want more locally produced foods."

The same piece of legislation eases restrictions on "cottage foods," or baked and canned goods produced in people's homes, such as non-refrigerated cakes and canned jellies. McGeary said the law opens up a business avenue for cottage food providers and does not compromise food safety.

Meanwhile, Texans who want to hunt feral hogs from a helicopter are in luck. Lawmakers passed a bill that lets landowners arrange for the hunting of feral hogs and coyotes from choppers above their property.

Another law makes it legal to fish for catfish with your bare hands, known as noodling.

Reporter Nolan Hicks contributed to this report.

You can read a more complete list of some of the new laws right here!

All I can say about this is it's about time that things started looking up for the average guy for a change! Now if we can convince them to keep heading in the right direction...things would only get even better!

How about some fresh coffee on the patio? Supposed to start raining on Wednesday, but we'll see!

It's high time that anyone stupid enough to stick their hands in the mouth of a giant catfish is allowed to do so!

These are all steps in the right direction, I do give you that.

But how about instead of passing a law that says it's okay to take produce to market in a cooler, we just repeal the law that said that it WASN'T OK.

How about instead of passing a law that says you may fish for catfish with your hands, we just repeal the law that said that it wasn't.

This whole country is going to fail from the weight of interpreting 200 years of layer upon layer of new laws that supercede the old ones. Let's just start over.

Bout time that they allowed killing of the dammed feral hogs . They ain't nuthing but a nuisance. I was on a ranch deep west Texas on the border and we shot everyone we saw. But that was back in the 70s

And I'm all for the "truck:" farmers selling their stuff. Probably better stuff than you get in the big box stores as organic.

When I was a kid we had a gentleman who used to bring us fresh vegetables in his truck. He'd go from house to house. Can't do that these days so the Farmer's Market is the next best thing.

How about every 3 years the legislature meets but can't pass new laws, they can only repeal old ones?

Way to go Texas; it's about time a state got some common sense laws. I love going to farmer's markets and do appreciate some easing up on restrictions. I would grow more of my own if I could. And shooting feral hogs any way you can is okay in my book.

Sort of gives you back some of the respect for our govenment that we lost. Hey Ben, you could always shoot ferrel hogs, but not from the air. Now it is turning into a rich man's sport (grin).

Those ferel hogs are becoming a huge problem almost everywhere thats why they passed that law for sure and so coyotes.
I sure do hope you get your rain.
I'll bring over some coffee to share with you

Hey Gorges...
I would much rather catch mine on a heavy duty line! Those rascals do have some teeth on 'em...I learned that the hard way!

Thanks for the visit today!

Hey JimmyCrackedCorn...
Does seem like it would be a lot simpler process, doesn't it?

I'm not sure why some groups want to do everything the hard way!

You have a great day, and thanks for coming over this morning!

Hey Ben...
Worse case of the feral hogs I ever saw was in East Texas! Hogs everywhere! Many folks made a living hunting them!

They sure can tear an area up rooting around!

Farmer's Markets are the way to go for fresh veggies, that's for sure! Wish I had one closer!

Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!

Hey Momlady...
I can r4emember an old man doing that in Georgetown at my Grandma King's! Only the old guy still used a mule and a wagon!

Couldn't do that in this day and age!

Wish I had some of those veggies about now!

Thanks, my friend, for coming over this morning!

Hey Sixbears...
Now that makes perfect sense to me! Maybe that's why it would never be allowed!

They have to make it appear as though they are doing something!

Politicians...what are ya gonna do?

Thanks for dropping in today!

Hey Linda...
Good to see some flashes of common sense coming through from time to time, isn't it?

You have a great day and I appreciate the visit!

Hey DD...
Yep, it almost does!

Maybe some of those rich guys will bring a little needed money into the state! Most ranchers and farmers will still have to do it the hard way!

Many thanks for coming by today!

Hey JoJo...
The hog population is growing like crazy! Many states in the south are having a problem with them.

Rather have some coyotes than wild hogs any day!

Thanks, sweetie, for dropping by today!

You got that right about hogs in East Texas. My cousin has from thirty to fifty in his back field every morning. They can wipe out fourty acres of watermelons or sweet potatoes in just two or three nights. A lot of people think they are just little things, the sows go from 150 up and the boars easily get to 250 or 300. And they definitely do have large tusks. It is only a matter of time before they go after a human, most likely kids playing around by some lake or something.

Sounds good to me too. I think a couple of months ago, I remember reading that Fed Gov. wanted to license and inspect farm vehicles and their operators (tractors / combines, etc.) because they often travel the roadways, that is just a money grab.

Things would really be looking up if people didn't need "laws" to assert their natural freedom.

Hey Bob...
They can certainly do a lot of damage in a short amount of time! A lot of folks I knew were having a hard time getting their deer leases set up because of the hogs!

Hey, thanks for coming over today!

Hey Anon 12:43...
Just another way to collect money to give away! Better start leaving the working folks alone!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Craig...
I think more of us should just do what we know to be right! Most laws are NOT made for us anyway!

That's the reason these laws are so different!

Many thanks, buddy, for coming by today!
