True Or Not...?

In today's world, it's sometimes hard to tell what's true and what isn't. While we used to count on the mainstream media to give us the real facts, we know now that isn't always the case. Now days, more than ever before, the media is nothing more than a tool used by the PTB to further whatever cause they deem necessary. Here from the folks at Didyouknowfacts.com, is an article about UPS you might find interesting.

UPS trucks don’t turn left. Their policy to never turn across oncoming traffic, even when it shortens their routes, reduces traffic collisions and delays, so they plan routes that avoid left turns whenever possible. This reportedly cuts their number of trucks by 1,100, saves 10 million gallons of fuel and emits 22,000 fewer tons of carbon dioxide per year, and lowers the annual distance traveled by 28.5 million miles.

Now I watched the show "Mythbusters" when they set out to test this, and surprisingly they found it did save fuel, but sometimes took longer. So what do you think? Is it mainly true...or is it just another case of "believe it or not?"

Coffee insider this morning. It's really cold outside.

Hmmmm Now that is interesting. I guess I don't know what to think about that. I don't get out a lot, but I'll be keeping an eye out for UPS trucks:))

I heard this a long time ago from our UPS driver. I some respects it does make sense. The driver that delivers on my street only drives in one direction. If he has a delivery on the opposite side of the street, he just stops and runs across the street. Weird.

You're right about the MSM & facts today... I guess someone would have to ask UPS if it is indeed "policy" to not make left turns.

Weird. I'll have to look for them.

I try never to have to make left turns and will go out of my way to avoid them, to me it is a safety fact and yes cut down on the waiting time to turn.

Quick coffee with freinds and then out to last minute shopping and finish loading up. Yes a van would make this all so much easier.

Hey Mamahen...
Best way is to do like you say and watch out for them.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Hey Linda...
Probably the quickest way to make the delivery is to cross the street.
Thanks for coming over today!

Hey Rob...
I read the speech given by the head of UPS and he admitted that this was policy, but only as a suggestion.
Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Momlady...
Let us know what you find out when you do.
Thanks for coming over today!

Most interesting. Maybe we should all try this My friend was turning left into his own street and got broadsided by someone who ran a red light. He had never even put gas in his brand new car, and now it's almost totaled. Of course, insurance wants to fix it instead of giving him a new one.

Enjoyed the Patton article, too. Never heard of that controversy. Makes you wonder …

Big hugs ~

Hey Sis...
I have no doubt that turning left at an intersection against traffic is dangerous because of the reason you mentioned, but even in a city the size of Houston it is sometimes hard not to do so. Nothing good to say about insurance companies, though.
Thanks for dropping by today!

I've heard "two wrongs don't make a right" but three lefts do!

Left hand turns on busy highways can be very dangerous. So, the UPS rules make sense.

Hey Grey...
That's pretty good! Haven't heard that one.
Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Dizzy...
Could be very dangerous indeed.
