Do you remember Red Skelton ?
This is a routine that he did about the Pledge Of Allegiance that bears repeating! He puts it in such a way that ALL can understand it! Please pay attention...
My friends, if you are not moved in some way by this, if you cannot understand the Pledge after listening, if you don't get just a little choked up when hearing these words...then I am sorry for you.
I will never forget this Pledge nor will I forget the original intent of the words. I will treat it as a blood oath and, by GOD, will defend the right of all Americans to say this Pledge...in schools, in church, in meeting halls, or on the street corner at any time!
Now, let's get a fresh cup of coffee, my friends.
God bless ya and RIP Red Skelton, the best entertainer in my lifetime, bar none, people like him and Carrol Burnette have no equal.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Brother! Thanks for dropping by...
ReplyDelete...good mornin' Jim...another inspirational post,they just don't make'em like they used too,do they ?...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post Jim, If people don't like the wording in the Pledge then get out of this country.
ReplyDeleteAMEN
Now Good Morning Jim, please pass the pot.
JoJo
Thanks Jim;
ReplyDeleteGreat post-we belong to a different era. Life was good then.
Good morning, Ken...Red did have a way with words! I remember tht he used to end each show with "good night and God bless!"
ReplyDeleteCouldn't do that now days!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey JoJo...always good to see you. I agree with you 100%, my friend.
Here, let me get the coffee for ya! And thank you for coming by!
Hey Tony...
ReplyDeleteI often wonder how we got so turned around from where we used to be! I'm not sure that all the changes we have gone through were for the best, ya know?
Thanks for coming by, my friend!
Hey Jim, good morning.
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time in America...
Hopefully someday, somehow, we'll get back to that pride and love for our country. More importantly, that our leaders will understand or remember what made America great.
lydia
thanks for that, it was nice to watch and it was very moving.
Hey Lydia...thanks so much for the kind comments this morning and thank you for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteVery moving & love Red Skelton. Too bad they don't make entertainers like that any more.
ReplyDeleteHey Stephanie...
ReplyDeleteYou're right about there not being any entertainers like Red around any more! Slowly but surely we are losing the best of his breed.
I'm glad you could drop in today...always a pleasure to see you!
Republic... If you can keep it..
ReplyDeleteDamn, HermitJim, this had tears in my eyes! I remember being very young and watching this. Many thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory!
ReplyDeleteHey Coyote...my pleasure, my man. Shame we don't have any entertainer's anymore that will say something like this in public.
ReplyDeleteGuess times have changed for the worse...good thing we at least have our memories.
Thanks for coming by, my friend!
Man it's good to hear ol Red again, not listened in years. Thanks for the video and your oath. Standing beside all of my fellow Patriots in these times of trouble and it's good to be by your side.
ReplyDeleteHey Bullseye...Red was one of the most patriotic men in show biz...at least he seemed like it.
ReplyDeleteThese times we need to all be unafraid to stand up and declare publicially just where we stand and who we stand beside!
Thanks for coming by, my brother!
I recall the first time I watched Red on t.v.. This is not what people think of as his typical skit but very touching. When I visited his museum/ gallery in Honolulu it was an eye-opener.
