We Should All Be Thankful...!

You know, we have so many things in our lives to be thankful for!

We can be thankful for the beautiful mornings that start our day. We can be thankful for the fact that we have shelter over our heads, and food on our table for our family!

We can be thankful for the measure of health that allows us to function in our daily lives, and do so with a good portion of our dignity intact!

We can be thankful that we have the support of our friends in the good times and the bad, willing to share with us the joy we might find in the simplest of life's treasures.

We can be thankful when we finally reach the age where we can do what we want, without the worry about what others may think or say.

We can be thankful that we can hold our heads up high, as we proudly turn our backs on all the people that would tell us what we can and cannot do!

We can be thankful that we will always be young enough at heart to enjoy the beauty of good music, the gentleness of a soft kiss, the warmth of a heartfelt hug, and the pure joy of simply holding hands!

We can also be thankful that the photographer chose to take this shot from the back instead of the front on this particular day!

Now, my friends, let's get some coffee and sit outside for a bit! And to answer your question, NO...that's not me in the picture!

  1. Yes, there are so many things to be thankful for in life. Strange how easy it is to forget that sometimes.

good to see you this morning! I guess that with everything that's going on in the world today, we forget just how fortunate we really are!

I know that I'm as guilty as anyone...

I don't know if I could have handled a full on shot or not! Too much like looking in a mirror (which I do as little as possible, BTW).

  9. He looks like Dick Chaney. Not that I've seen Dick Chaney in the buff... just the side profile of his face made me go hmmmm. Do you have connections Mr. Hermit???

Enjoy your coffee and have a wonderful weekend.

  10. Good morning Jim;

Thanks for reminding us to be thankful for what we have.

The picture shows we can stll be young at heart. Just two teenager's in love. Reminds me of the time my wife nd I went skinniny dipping in the Atlantic in the middle of the day because we had gone for a ride down A-1A to visit friends. We had stopped in one of the many small parking area's available on the beach. No one was there but us, so we said what the hell let's do it. Two sane people in their 50's still having fun.
Good memories. Never let the child in you grow up.

    See Ya

  12. Hey WW...
Many times it is the folks that have so very little that show their appreciation for that which they do have! Sort of reminds the rest of us just how fortunate we are!

Thanks for taking the time to come by today, my friend!

    Hey Sue...
It's nice to have you come by. I think that from time to time we all just need to step back, take a deep breath, and count our many blessings...

Thanks so much for stopping in today, my friend!

    Hey Rae...
Only the eyes of a loved one see us as we were, and not as we are!

I only hope for their sake that mthe water is warm...!

Thank you for coming by today, Rae!

    Hey Tony...
I hope that we all can find a way to keep our sense of adventure alive...and that we can stay young at heart, building memories to add to the ones we already have!

I do appreciate the visit today, my man!

    Hey JoJo...
Just think...that could be you and I some day! One major difference, though! I don't wear a watch, and I'm not going bald!

  13. Good morning, Mister Hermit, sir.

That's a beautiful photograph, and sweet.

Yes, there is much to be thankful for...much beauty in the world, although sometimes one must look from a different perspective to find it...like...from behind the saw grass...

  14. Hey K...
It's sad that so much beauty get's overlooked merely because we didn't take the time to peek over the next sand dune, or through the saw grass.

To me, this picture says that true love never grows old...and that a good hug can help to steady our steps in the sand!

Hey, thanks for coming by today, lady!

  15. Mister Hermit, sir, I like that - true love never grows old. It's a lovely thought, that one may hope to have company along life's way, even as the journey approaches its close. We should all be so blessed.

  16. HI...well after reading all the other comments I guess there is nothing left to say...EXCEPT...I agree with them all!
Thanks for this post...it is a great reminder for us!
From a Cali girl to a Hermit...Have a "Bitchin" day!
P.S. Just in case..."bitchin' is a good word here for this "surfing state"...*smile*

  17. Hey Diane...
I knew what you meant! During my time in the service and then afterward, I had a lot of friends that were surfers...and we all spoke the language of the others.

I think I was one of the only cowboy types allowed in, but that's because at the time I had a '63 corvette convertable...and the surf boards sticking out the back when we drove down the beach always got some attention from the young ladies!

Anyway, I appreciate the thought...and I appreciate the visit, my friend!

  20. Oh, Mr. Hermit Jim,

Where have you been? You found our neighbors - they walk around like that all the time! Just kidding - I wouldn't mind having to see that couple if we could live at the beach!

We sure do appreciate your daily words of wisdom. Puts much of life in perspective for us.

    Thanks,
