Now, according to Snopes.com, this is a real rabbit. I can't help but think that this could be a Prepper's goldmine! Just imagine, having a few of these around to supplement the ol' food supply...
Wouldn't take but just a few of these guys to make a good meal...not to mention the uses of all that fur!

Hopping into the record books, Humphrey the two-stone rabbit is king of the big bucks

Meet record-breaking rabbit Humphrey - a buck so large he has smashed the official mark for the world's biggest bunny.
The French lop-eared rabbit is 42in long and tips the scales at a mammoth two stone.
That's 3lb heavier than previous world record holder Dancing Star, a rabbit of the aptly named British Giant breed who weighs in at 25lb.
The French Lop's average weight is a comparatively tiny 10lb.

Thumping great: Humphrey with owner Colin Dunigan, who says, 'I just don't know how big he is going to get'
And the 18-month-old, who is not yet fully matured, is still growing, fuelled by a diet of hay, carrots, asparagus - and his favourite, digestive biscuits.
Owner Colin Dunigan, from Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire, said: "When I first got him I could hold him in the palms of both my hands.
"Every day he just kept getting bigger and bigger. I thought he would stop, but he hasn't so far."
In a single day he will eat three whole carrots, half a broccoli, a couple of asparagus tips, some wholemeal bread and a handful of biscuits.
Father-of-two Mr Dunigan, 62, said: "He loves his food. He would eat me out of house and home if he could. I have to be careful not to overfeed him, because he lives to eat."
And quantity is not enough. Humphrey also demands quality.

Current bunny: Record-holder Humphrey is 42in long and still growing
Mr Dunigan said: "I bought him some own-brand digestive biscuits because they were a bit cheaper, but he turned his nose up."
Humphrey has the run of his owner's four-bedroom detached house after outgrowing his 6ft cage, and now enjoys lying next to the fire - and watching television.
Mr Dunigan revealed he is a particular fan of Albert Square.
He said: "It doesn't matter where he is in the house, when he hears the theme of EastEnders he runs to get to the television.
"And if I try to leave the house without leaving the telly or the radio on he will stop me before I go."
The largest breed of domestic rabbit is the Flemish giant, which weighs up to 17lb 10oz and stretches up to 3ft toe-to-toe.
The current unofficial world record holder for the largest rabbit is Amy, a Continental Giant from Worcester. She weighs in at two-and-a-half stone and is 4ft long.
But Mr Dunigan would not be surprised if Humphrey caught up on her too. He said: "He has a way to go, but I just don't know how big he is going to get."

Now, my friends, let's get some fresh coffee and sit on the patio...we can think about how in the world we are going to fry all that rabbit!
That sort of rabbit is very popular over here and I´ve seen som big ones, but this one is as bi as a dog :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day now!
Christer.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteThat is one big bunny. My sister-in-law's Lops don't hold a candle to that baby. :D
Thanks for sharing that story Uncle Hermit.
Have a great day!
Hugs~Felinae~
Hey Christer...
ReplyDeleteNow if we could train them to pull a plow...we would be set!
Thanks for coming by today, buddy!
Hey Felinae...
Makes a heck of an Easter Bunny, doesn't he? I don't imagine many of the regular predators would bother him very much!
Man...that's a LOT of meat from just one bunny!
Thanks, girl, for coming by today!
Hmm somehow I didn't think digestive biscuits formed the proper diet of a rabbit... having said that my two rats love coffee morning biscuits as a treat lol xx
ReplyDeleteHey Jim,
ReplyDeleteThat's a big wabbit!
When desperate times hit, one might get a few pots of stew from that one critter!
Good Morning My Special One,
ReplyDeleteThats some bunny. Did you ever have it BBQ? its supposed to be very good.
I am ready for some coffee on the patio, it is supposed to get very cold here for a few days and snow on the mountain. Getting my camera ready for some shots.
All I could see at first were GIANT Cadbury Eggs! Yummmm.
ReplyDelete...i think i need a bigger skillet...
ReplyDeleteKen
Hmmm, might make a nice fur collar or even a hat. What do you think? Rabbit does make a tasty meal. But not for breakfast. Have a peaceful day.
ReplyDeleteOh no, Mister hermit sir, you don't fry a rabbit that size - you slow roast or stew him!
ReplyDeleteAs for the fur...heh...why am I mentally picturing Barbarella? I could make all sorts of things from that hide...as long as someone else tans it. Alas, my skills at tannery are entirely theoretical.
Neat story - I almost wonder who's keeping who as a pet, though. Sounds like the bunny has his human well trained!
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
Hey Sage...
ReplyDeleteI don't know what he eats for breakfast, but my guess is that whatever it is...is very healthy!
If he could bark, he could be used for security!
Thanks for coming by today!
Hey Mamma...
Ain't that the truth? You would definitely NOT want this guy to get in the garden, though!
Man, we would never have to mow again!
Thanks for coming by today, my friend!
Hey JoJo...
Had bbq rabbit several times...and it is good! Nearly everything is good when cooked on the bbq!
Thanks, sweetie, for coming by today!
Hey Sis...
Now THAT'S a picture I can really get my mind around! Just think of the size of the rannit foot good luck charms from this guy!
Thanks for coming by today, sis!
Hey Ken...
I hear ya on that, my friend! Wonder if we could do up some rabbit jerky?
The mind truly boggles at the possibilities!
Hey, thanks for coming by today!
Hey MomLady...
I wonder if I could get someone to make me a pair of slippers from the skin? Ought to be able to keep the feet warm in that fur!
Fried rabbit, mashed taters, gravy, and some homemade bread...man, I'm getting hungry already!
Thanks for coming by today, my lady!
Hey K...
Roasted would be good for me! I imagine we could feed quite a few with this bugger!
Make you a deal! I'll tan the hide...and you do the creating! Several of these could give you a LOT of possibilities, huh?
Who is keeping the pet seems to be a good question now days...sometimes I wonder that myself around here!
Hey, thanks for coming by today, ms. K...
That is a beautiful bunny!
ReplyDeleteAnd you're talking about EATING IT?
Oh my :(
Hey Blondie...
ReplyDeleteJust looking at all the possible uses from Mr. Rabbit, ya know?
Just think how nice he would look fried...with maybe a side of candied carrots!
Just kidding, you ol' nature lover, you!
I sure do thank you for coming by today, girl!
Wabbit? Where did I put my saddle?
ReplyDeleteI doubt he would fit in the solar oven.Break out the spit.
See Ya
wild rabbit is much easier to skin than domestic. I dont know why but its true.
ReplyDeleteI havent been around for a while and your page doesnt down load on my phone very well.
happy belated Tday
Hey OGT...
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about wild rabbit being easier to skin!
Sorry the site doesn't download to the phone very easy...
maybe you need to get a laptop for when you travel...?
Thanks for coming by, buddy!
Hahaha... He doesn't eat the no-name brand of digestive biscuits - only the finer ones... so IMO, that makes him a "Wascelly Wabbit" for sure!
ReplyDeleteThat is one big cuddly lookin bunny. lol. The city of Edmonton here in Alberta seems to have some huge rabbits roaming around. I was loading a piece equipment there one time and I noticed something in the corner of my eye. My first thought was kangaroo. lol. Scared the hell right out of me.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was somewhat shocking! That rabbit is the size of a cat or dog! Crazy!

ReplyDeleteWow, huge rabbit is still cute, but seems Humphrey is not the world's biggest rabbit now, the record was broken by Ralph, a 4 years old, 55 pounds weight .

Nice article! I really like your blog. Flemish Giant Rabbit have a docile and gentle nature if they are socialized from a young age. A Flemish giant bunny will need a giant place to live. Thanks for sharing.
