It's Going To Be Crazy...!
My big sister "B", is in town from North Carolina for a week to visit Mom.
In order to celebrate her visit and uphold a family tradition, we are having a family get-together this coming weekend! Really, it started off as a memory celebration of my Father's birthday. However, over the years it has been changed, both in date and in focus in order to accommodate every one's schedule and all the other reasons, like out of town relatives.
Anyway, because we are having a family party this weekend, and because this song has been bouncing around in my head the past few days...I wanted to play it here to see if, by playing it, I can get it to go away for a day or so!
I'm sure that a lot of you probably remember this song, if not the movie! I like it...and can't stop tapping my foot when I hear it!
Now you know what the reason is, in case I don't post for a day or two! I'll try and get some pictures up on here while my sister is here!
Now, how about some coffee in the kitchen? Raining outside, which is nice for a change!
Thanks Uncle Hermit,
ReplyDeleteI love this song, it's a fun song to dance to too. :D
I hope you and yours have a wonderful visit.
Hugs~Felinae~
Hey Felinae...
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to not tap your foot when it's playing, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteHey Ken...
ReplyDeleteThanks, buddy! It's always an adventure, ya know? Never know what's going to happen!
Thanks for coming by today!
Enjoy the family get together, at our age we just never know do we?
ReplyDeleteAbout the promised pictures You Better get a bunch of them and post em up.. ( How bout handing the camera to someone else for a couple of hours for a fresh take on the event? )
Enjoy the time.
About the song you mentioned. Have never seen Animal House but I remembered the song as having been done by some black group. Good ole Google!!,, The Isleys wrote this on the spur of the moment at a Washington, DC, concert in mid-1959. As they performed Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops," Ronald Isley ad-libbed, "WELLLLLLLLLLL... you know you make me want to SHOUT" and Rudy and O'Kelly joined in on the improvisation. The audience went wild and afterwards, RCA executive Howard Bloom suggested putting it out as their first RCA single.
ReplyDeleteHere's an early version by them.

ReplyDeleteYou truly will have "all my sisters with me" on Sautrday! And we'll remember the one who isn't with us anymore. Talked to B last night, and could not stop - looking forward to a good visit, and of course, the FOOD! You put on the coffee,' cause I'll be there early, with bells and goodies!
Hope you have a great visit. If you are referring to James' mom I'd like to meet her some day. Say hello for me.
ReplyDeleteHey Ben...
ReplyDeleteThis is certainly one of the classics from a time that you and I can remember pretty well!
Makes you want to dance!
I appreciate you coming by today!
Hey Sis...
You know that the coffee will be on early, and I'm always looking forward to the food!
Hope everything goes well this weekend, ya know?

Hey Momlady...
If you don't have anything to do this weekend, then come on over! B would be glad to meet you as well...as would everyone else!
Thanks so much for coming by today!
Howdy Jim,
ReplyDeleteOur family back in Pennsylvania has a picnic/reunion once a year at my cousin's house on the Allegheny river. Haven't been able to go the last two years, but when I do I sure do enjoy it. Have a great weekend and enjoy.
