Some Blast From The Past...!
I haven't heard these for a while, so I thought I would play them.
I always liked the Statler Brothers...still do! They were fairly popular back when music was music and things made more sense!
The world is going a little more mad each day, and I find myself wanting to separate myself from the madness far more than I used to!
Hell...I guess I'm starting to feel my age a bit more! But that's OK, because I feel that I'm not alone in that!
Anyway, here are a couple of memories just for you, my friends! Enjoy!
Just one more this morning...!
Dang...I find myself waiting for the cereal commercials! Simpler times, my friends...simpler times!
How about some fresh coffee on the patio? Not as hot this morning!

Just made a fresh pot. Sure, I'll join you! :)
I love the Statler Brothers. Thank you for the early morning music.
Hey Calandreya...
Glad to have the company this morning!
Hard to beat the pleasant sound these guys and the others like them made for our enjoyment!
Thanks so much for coming by today!
Good memories Hermit sir
And looking at the times on your comments,, What da Hell ya'll doing up that early ( or late)
I honestly do remember watching Saturday afternoon serials at the theater in Lewisville Texas back in the early 50s ( I know the date is right cause all my brothers were born there. )
Grandma always had Roman Meal bread and Buckwheats cereal in her kitchen. I can still see that scene in my mind. I wish I had asked her more of why she chose her foods like she did, she lived to be 94 with very few health problems we see today.
Good Morning My Special One
Thanks for the show it was fun to watch. I loved Roy Rogers he was my love. LOL
And his horse was the best.
Coffee on the patio sounds wonderful. it is 46 here this morning had to take out the little heater and warm this place up so I can take a shower. :) Hot coffee going down nicely.
Probably 12 years ago, my 2 oldest sons went on a 5 day bike trip with the boy scouts. The leader drove a van with the boys' bikes in a trailer behind it to the start point, and my oldest son came back singing American Pie. When I commented that that had been a great song way back when, but a pain in the arse to listen to, because you had to flip the 45 halfway through, he said, "What are you talking about? And you must be stupid, because Mr. S. has kept his CD for all those years." He was very confused by the whole "different sized vinyl records" explanation that followed. Simpler times, indeed!
...even tho lots of those were before my time,i remember most of them vicariously from family and mentors...
...still have most all of my vinyl too, half a dozen or so are Statler Bro's...Great post Jim
Hey Ben...
Saturday serials were common fare at the Palace Theater in Georgetown when I was a kid! I used to spend a couple of weeks with my cousin there every summer! I think the cost of the ticket was fifty cents!
Back home in Houston, we had Saturday serials on television. Along with all the great television shows of the time, suited for kids!
Lots of memories!
Thanks for coming by today!
Hey Anon 7:38...
Grandma sounds like a wheat lover to me! Probably had a lot better sense than many of us today!
I hadn't thought of Buckwheat cereal in a long time! I do remember Sugar Pops and the like!
Hey, I appreciate the visit today!
Hey JoJo...
Man, I wish we could have a taste of the cooler weather here for a change! Still running in the high 80's and low 90's!
Been just way too hot this Summer for me...!
I keep wishing for a swimming pool or a creek in the country to take a dip in!
Thanks so much, sweetie, for coming by today!
Hey Marjie...
Boy, I can remember the old records...45s, 78s, and the monsters 33&1/3!
Hard to explain that time to kids that, for the most part, have never even seen a record player!
We better watch it, or the kids will have us committed for being crazy and talking wild!
At least today we don't have to keep up with all the adapters!
Thanks so much for coming by today!
Hey Ken...
At least you know what the vinyls were! Many young ones today don't have a clue!
Glad you liked the post, buddy! Thanks for dropping by today!
Most I remember when I was a child...these were from my brothers sister era. They were 15-20 years old when I was born...but none the less I remember.
LOL on the fly strips...they are still around.
Now lets go back to Jimi Hendrix, The Stones, and the early 60's...:-)
What does it say about me, that I sang right along with all of it?
Word for word... ;)
One of my favorite albums was the Statler Brothers "Old Testament" and the "New Testament". I can't find them on CD now, but I still have everything they've ever done!
Thanks for the memories!
