Chasing The Rainbow...!

The news from the hospital is a little good, and a little bad.

Well, I say bad...but that may not be the case. During one of the blood work ups yesterday, the lab came back with a report that Mom's white count was a little higher than it had been. Despite that, Mom says that she has been feeling better and seems to be eating well. She seems to be getting around pretty good as well!

When the doctor came to see her later in the evening, he told her not to be very concerned about the elevated white count...that several things could cause that level. He said the main thing was that she was feeling a lot better! He also said that if all continues to go well, she might be able to go home Thursday. We'll wait and see about that, as there are several other doctors involved and they have to approve the release as well.

As much as Mom wants to go home, she knows that it's best she get completely out of the woods with this pneumonia before trying to do too much too soon! I think she realizes that she is in the best place to be properly treated and cured of all the bad stuff that has been nagging at her and pulling her down as of late!

I think the staff and the hospital has been outstanding so far. I can't say enough about the care shown by the nursing staff, that's for sure! That goes double for the doctors! One even came to see about Mom's condition a little after midnight! How many times do you know of doctors doing that?

Anyway, that's where we stand right now. I'm hoping that I can find out a little more this morning when I go back up to the hospital. It really makes it a lot easier when you can stay informed about what's going on, ya know?

It's kind of like chasing a rainbow! You think you know just where the rainbow ends, but the end is never quite where you expect it to be!

I'll sure be glad when it's all over and she is back home! I know she will be, as well! Probably the happiest will be Mom's cat, Amy! With just the two of them living there, Amy really gets lonely when Mom is not home! I make sure to spend some time with her every day, just so she doesn't feel as though she has been abandoned!

Our pets have feelings as well! Just like people, a little bit of caring can go a long way!

Coffee in the kitchen this morning! Way too cold to go out!

  4. Sounds like mostly good news, HJ. I'm so glad! Your mom sounds like she has a good attitude and that will go a long way to speed her recovery too. Will keep you both in my prayers.

  7. Bubba -
When I talked to Mom last night, she even talked about maybe using a walker when she gets home, and you know what a BIG step that is! I think it's finally hit her that 85 yrs old might be just a little on the "needs some help" side of life. And I certainly know you're helping! Bless you and many thanks from this side of town for all you do - you're the best!

    Big hugs -

  8. So glad that your Mom is doing well and may get back to her own home soon. And, yes definitely, animals have feeling, also. 85 is not that old for your Mom's generation. My Mom, Mother-in-law, and Aunts lived well into their 90's and my one uncle made it to 100.

  9. Good Morning My Special One,
So happy to hear the news. The high cells as the Dr. said could be a tempory thing from meds or just because of the illness it self. Poor Amy she needs her mom home too. Just make sure you rest when you can before mom comes home.
Still keeping you both in my thoughts always.

  10. Hey Farmchick...
We certainly appreciate the good wishes, my friend.

Amy is really lost without Mom being at home. She knew several days before I took Mom to the hospital that something wasn't right! Stayed right with her and watched her all the time!

Thanks for the good wishes...I'll pass them on!

    Hey WWRWH...
You're right about having a good attitude and how important it is!

    Positive outlook is so important!

I appreciate the good wishes for Mom's behalf and will pass them on!

    Thanks for coming by today!

    Hey Ben...
Having cats, you know how they depend on us for their feelings of safety and comfort!

I'll certainly tell Mom about your good wishes for her, sir!

    Thanks for coming by today!

    Hey Phelan...

    Hey Anon 7:07...
Your kind wishes will certainly be passed down to Mom. I know she will appreciate them!

Many thanks for the visit today!

    Hey Sis...
Let's hope she remembers about that walker after she gets home!

Those falls can sure be deadly at her age!

Thanks, Sis, for coming by today!

    Hey Dizzy...
For thew most part, she seems to be doing pretty good! I just hope that continues!

I'm so glad to have you come by bringing good wishes for her! I really thank you, my friend!

So glad that your dear Mom is on the mend. It can be so stressful when a loved one is ill, especially your own Mother. Hope you have her back home again very soon.

Just knowing she is getting better is a good thing.

I'm glad to be able to see some light at the end of the tunnel, but you know how that goes...right?

Thanks so much for coming by today!

  14. I am glad to hear that Mama Hermit is doing better. :)

Hopefully she will get to come home on Thursday as scheduled. That is sure to be a happy reunion between she and Amy. There is nothing like a pet to make you feel better.

Have a good day, Uncle Hermit.

    Hugs~Fel~

  15. Hey Christer...
Thanks for the good thoughts about Mom!

Thank you also for taking the time to drop in today!

    Hey Felinae...
It would be nice if she could come home, but I'm sure the doctors will need to send her home as soon as possible if she is able.

The hospital ER is operating at 300% capacity right now, and having to put second beds in all of the triage rooms because of all the illnesses.

All we need for a real emergency right now...is for a major ice storm to hit, causing an abundance of wrecks and injuries!

Hopefully that won't happen, but I know it would put a major strain on all of their resources!

Hey, thanks for coming by today!

  16. Ditto everybody else!! I am stuck here in my postage stamp size house with 4 kids...three 3 yrs. old and one 7 yrs. old. Sometimes I feel as if I need the hospital but I shouldn't say that even in jest.
Thanks, Bubba. We all appreciate you.
    Love,Love,Love!

  17. Best regards and hopes for a quick and full recovery from the denizens of Casa de Crazy - I have been reading and trying to keep up, but time seems to be in short suply 'round here (don't know why). Y'all have been in my thoughts, despite my electronic absence.

Hugs all around (and please give Amy a scratch from me - I do so feel for the furlings, missing their humans...)!

    Shade and Sweetwater,
    K

  18. Pets know a lot more than people give them credit for! Thor knows when his kids are leaving for college, and is not amused. He also remembers a friend of our daughter who shows up only once a year, but throws himself on the floor for Thor Hugs! He is obviously warmly welcomed. I hope poor Amy understands you telling her Mom will be home soon!

  19. Hey Sis...
At that age, two can seem like ten. All I can say is better you than me!

But you know you love it!

Thanks a bunch for coming by today!

    Hey K...
I can certainly understand how you could be short of spare time. Guess the getting ready for the sprout is something that eats up a lot of time!

I appreciate you coming by today!

    Hey Marjie...
Amazing what our animals seem to know and understand. I'm guilty of talking to my cat...and to Mom's just like they understand everything I say!

I can always tell when Amy is mad at me as she will sit with her back to me. I can move, and so will she...keeping her back turned in my direction.

Hey, thanks for coming by today, my friend!
