Are You Kidding Me...?

It's getting to the point that folks are downright paranoid!

If the day ever comes that I am this jumpy, I hope you just lock me away for my own good! I mean, I can understand a reasonable amount of caution, but there is a limit! I'm beginning to think that people are seeing bad guys behind every tree (or theater seat in this case) and that's a shame!

Sub machine gun in theater turns out to be just a sub (sandwich)

A gun spotted at a St. Johns County movie theater Thursday afternoon turned out to be only lunch.
The Florida Times-Union reports that deputies with the Sheriff's Office evacuated a movie theater at Epic Theatre of St. Augustine about 2 p.m. after receiving reports that a man entered with a shotgun, according to spokeswoman Catherine Payne. Detectives interviewed the person and determined he was trying to sneak a sub sandwich into the movie. Patrons were allowed back into the theater.

One more reason I don't go to the movies. I have more fun staying at home with no company except the cats! I don't have to worry about them carrying a gun, at least!

Coffee in the kitchen this morning. I have some pumpkin pie and Cool Whip ready, OK?

  1. Maybe the manager turned him in to "teach him a lesson."

  2. Hey Gorges...
My guess is that there will be a new law on the books soon..."sandwich smuggling" in a public place!

    Crazy world around us!

    Thanks for coming over today!

I'm with you, Mr. Hermit - haven't been to the movies in over 10 years.
    Too many dingbats out there!
Coffee and pie in the kitchen is just perfect for today. It's 21 here and we are waiting for more snow. My poor chickens hate it!

  5. A little jumpy in Saint A, aren't they? What has the world become?

  6. Hi HJ, it would appear that people at the theater were a bit "anxious". Got to agree with you about the movie thing, last time we went was in 1993. lol

If they count on us to keep the movie industry going they are going to be disappointed.

Pumpkin pie sounds really good. Yum.

  7. This reminds me of an old joke, think "Mae West" delivery. Is that a gun you're carrying or are you just glad to see me! We've become a paranoid nation but I won't let that dictate my life. "Ignorance is the father of fear" Herman Melville.

  8. The whole world is just getting stupid. I agree with you; if I eve get that paranoid just lock me up. I don't want to "see" something in every person. Nothing wrong with being "aware" of your surroundings. But a person doesn't need to be paranoid about it. Snowing right now here with the temp at 24 degrees. Wish I was still at my sons house in GA. However, coffee and pumpkin pie with cool whip sound delicious. Have a great weekend.

  9. Oh brother. Well I haven't been to a movie since I took my kids to see the Gremlin. I hate going to movies can't sit that long. At home you can pause and walk around and do whatever. Get a drink for free or make popcorn that cost less for a whole box than one small one at the movies.

Anyway that pumkin pie sure sounds good with a nice hot cup.

  10. I haven't been in a movie theater since watching "Buford Pusser" years and years ago. Look that one up! Mayhem on the screen enough without threat of a danger under the seat. I lack movies in my life.

Absolutely my favorite pie. I love LOTS of spice but plain is also nice. May I have 2 slices? I will bring some hot roiboi tea for everyone; nice alternative; I'm floating from coffee this morning.

  11. Hey Phyllis...
Right you are about all the dingbats running around!

Rather be sitting at home working on the 'puter or playing with the cats!

Thanks so much for coming over today!

    Hey Sixbears...
Guess my question would be...if they are so paranoid, why even go in the first place?

Thanks, buddy, for coming over today!

    Hey JMD...
With all the different ways to entertain ourselves at home, why would I go to the theater?

I don't ever want to be that jumpy!

Thanks for coming over this morning!

    Hey Randall...
Seems to me that we are all afraid of the wrong things! The destruction and theft of our personal rights...now that's something to be afraid of!

Living in fear is not the way to enjoy life, IMHO!

    Thanks for coming by today!

    Hey Linda...
Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceburg!

I don't envy you the cold weather! Bad enough here with the temps in the 40's.

Thanks so much for coming over!

    Hey Jo...
Sounds like a lot of us feel the same way about the public movies!

    Certainly more fun at home!

Thanks, sweetie, for dropping by this morning!

    Hey Sissy...
You can have as many slices as you want!

Plain is my prefered way to eat it, but the Cool Whip is for the visitors!

Thanks for coming over for a visit today!

  12. Haven't been to a theater in 38 years, but I'd like to hear the rest of that story. How could a sandwich be mistaken for a machine gun???

  13. Hahaha! Sorry I am trying to figure it out. Guess the way he was carrying it under his trench coat. . . Oh, sigh, other people's kids.

  14. It would seem that the scare tactics employed by the powers that be and their media mouthpieces have produced the desired effect.

  15. People are twitchy needlessly; their greatest dangers are around them every day as they go to work or running errands. Always be alert of your surroundings. We live in a generation that lacks consciousness in the majority.

Dang, HermitJim, did I miss the punkin pie and cool whip???? Double dang in a ditch!!

    Ummmmm, by the way, hi...LOL
