Strange Wooden Structures On Monday Mystery...!

While there isn't really an explanation for these structures to be built, they were. Who did the building and more importantly, why? Just another mystery it seems.

Strange Structures

Santa Fe National Forest has recently become plagued by unexplained wooden structures randomly appearing in the woods. Each structure is said to be made up of over 1,000 pieces of wood, with some over 6 meters (20 ft) tall and 4 meters (12 ft) in diameter.

Made of fallen trees and tree limbs, the structures have left forest officials at a loss. They complain that the wood could cause a forest fire and threaten that anyone caught building these cone-shaped designs could be fined $5,000 or spend six months in jail.

No one knows who is building these structures or why. But many have suggested that they are the work of a cult that uses the wooden frameworks for ritualistic purposes.

I can't figure out why anyone would build such large collections of dead wood, unless they were planning to have one heck of a bonfire at some point. Seems to me that the world around us gets a little stranger each and every day!

Coffee out on the patio this morning, if it doesn't rain.

  1. That is indeed strange. Especially since the Southwest gets so dry. I'm going with the ritual/cult idea on this one. Or else just plain crazy theory.

  2. Or maybe someone is just doing it as a way to screw with peoples heads.......

  3. Hey Linda...
I really can't think of a better explanation for it. Crazy seems like the best one for now.

  4. Maybe they think their cleaning up an not realizing the potential for fire especial because they are so tall fire spreads faster above the canopy than bellow. But to much dead wood on the ground is a disaster too.

  5. $5,000 or 6 months in jail, eh. Their poor fragile minds must be completely blown. I'm just glad they haven't lost their desire to control and punish people. Understandably, someone COULD light the things and wreak havoc, but if they'd MANAGE the forests, that would be less likely to happen.

  7. I wonder what the Masters are actually threatening with (the actual crime). How do you word "stacking up deadwood from the forest floor" so it sound evil enough to lock a person away for 6 months?

My first glance showed me several tipis in the woods, I though it was art.

  8. gorges is correct. the managed forest would not have all that dead wood lying around. possibly some one is trying to get the managers to do their job by reminding them that only they can prevent forest fires.

actually looks like the beginnings of a charcoal making stack.
