A Little Wisdom From Mark Twain...!

There is no way I could possibly cover all of the jewels of wisdom from Mark Twain in this post, but here is one I found interesting.

Mark Twain loved to travel and once wrote, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” Source Source 2

This quote from Twain makes a lot of sense to me, for some reason.

Coffee in the kitchen this morning. This heat is getting to me.

  2. I love traveling! I get itchy feet when I'm home for a long time. I also like meeting new people and seeing new places. Hmmm....maybe a trip to Houston is in order in the near future.

  3. Mark Twain is one of my favorite authors. He had some of the best quotes. Traveling seems to broaden peoples minds which is a good thing. Great topic for our coffee talk this morning.

Yes, there is always a lot to be said for a friendly talk around the kitchen table.
    Thanks for stopping by today!

    Hey Momlady...
I'd sure like to see you visit Houston but I would suggest the Fall of the year other than the Summer. Crazy hot here during the Summer months, that's for sure!
    Thanks for coming over today!

    Hey Linda...
He did indeed have some great quotes. One of my favorite authors as well.
Thanks for the visit this morning!

  5. One of my lady travel friends uses that quote on her blog. It is a good one.

Tell me about this heat driving me crazy too. Closing up all the blinds by 10 am and living in a cave not fun. So hanging out in the kitchen is the best place

  6. Travel is all that hat and more. It certainly broadens ones' perspective when one doesn't know the language or customs, and depends on the kindness of strangers. I can certainly see where the phrase "Ugly American" comes from, and make an effort to challenge that thought. I've made some really great friends along the foreigner's way, too.

Really is too hot for early June - what will August bring??

    Big hugs ~

I can see that quote being used on a travel blog, for sure.
Thanks for dropping by today, sweetie!

    Hey Sis...
I hope you can continue to challenge the "Ugly American" stereotype in your travels for years to come.
    Thanks for stopping by today!
