83-year-old woman dies in Christmas morning house fire
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, or whether the elderly woman was living by herself.
HOUSTON — An 83-year-old woman is dead after a tragic Christmas morning house fire, the Houston Fire Department confirms.
It happened on Sagerock Drive in southeast Houston around 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters had pulled the woman from the home, where she had been found unconscious at the bottom of the stairs near the kitchen.
An off-duty fire captain was also at the scene trying to help.
She was taken to a hospital, where she died around 8:30 a.m.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, or whether the elderly woman was living by herself.
I know Pat liked to cook and the fire appears to have started in the rear of the house where the kitchen was located. Right now that is only speculation, though. Truly a sad thing to happen on what is supposed to be a day of joy. That's the reason that we should try and live our life as though each day was going to be our last. You just never know when tragedy will strike.
Coffee inside this morning, where I have some home baked cookies to share.
So sorry for the loss. I imagine you were friends and it's always difficult to lose one, especially on a holiday. Consider yourself hugged. Coffee sounds good.

Hey Momlady...
ReplyDeleteI never turn down a hug, that's for sure.

Hey Linda...
Any loss of a good person is made even harder during the holidays, I think.
Many thanks for coming over today!
Hey Jo...
I appreciate the kind words this morning, dear!
Thanks for dropping in today!
May your neighbor & friend rest in peace. Here in our remote and small community we have established an 'adopt a grandparent' and young people visit elderly to ensure they are ok, help them if need be, and considered part of the family. They come to dinner or are brought dinner so no cooking necessary. We take turns doing maintenance, cleaning, running errands for adopted grandparent (even some who don't wish to be adopted are regularly checked on). Your friend, had she had an adopted family might not have had to cook her meal on Christmas day...food would have been brought to her or she would have been picked up to come to dinner.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a tragedy and to make matters worse, it was Christmas. So sorry to hear about that.
ReplyDeletePlease accept my condolences.
