Are You A Cowboy...?

I know, you think that's a silly question.

To begin with, let's look at what the term "cowboy" really means. To most folks the term "Cowboy" means someone riding a horse, wearing a gun and 10 gallon hat, herding cattle and breaking horses. But that's only the movie version of what a cowboy is, the truth is a lot different!

Cowboying is more than a lifestyle or job, it's a state of mind. It's a code people live by, both in the past and here in the present. It doesn't have to be taught in school or out of books because it's handed down at the knee of a father and mother, more often than not teaching by example and in the way they live on a daily basis. That's the way it is supposed to be, always!

In the past folks that lived this type of life were called cowboys, trail riders, ranch hands, sod busters, and cowpunchers. In today's lingo they might be called preppers, survivalist, preparedness nuts, militia supporters and extremist . The point being that it doesn't matter what name folks go by, but what really matters is the code of ethics they believe in and follow. It is a code of ethics most country folks live by. It's one more people should follow and learn from. We would be in a lot less trouble today if the government and the bankers and the rule makers and all the rest of the so-called leaders would strive to copy it!
