For some reason, spiders and I don't get along!
They have never done anything to me personally, but they are UGLY! Even more ugly than my ex mother-in-law! I find spiders to be very creepy. They don't make any noise and they always seem ready to attack or something. They hide...not showing themselves unless they have to!
Knowing this ahead of time, you'll understand that I was really creeped out when I first got this from my cousin! But when you get pass the creep factor, you have to marvel at the realism in this program...and it's safe. I've scanned it. I think that you'll have fun with it.
Poke and prod the spider with your mouse, also 'grab' one of its legs with your mouse and drag it around the screen. Tell me it's not alive!
Also, put the cursor anywhere on the map and then hit the space bar and it leaves little bugs. Watch the spider go after them and when she catches them they disappear, this is totally crazy and creepy too!

When you get through playing with the spider, put it back into the jar and take him outside, OK?
Then...come in and we'll have a nice cup of coffee !
That's no average spider. I think that is one of those tarantulas that I was always trying (illegally) catch in Arizona. I saw one (dead in a museum) the size of a basketball. So, how's preps going this fine cold Saturday morning? Thinking about finding me some more Basmati rice for storage. Who knew that I would come to crave one of my prep foods. While I am there, might as well pick up some more tuna, chicken and the like.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wonder if store clerks ever wonder about people like me who buy large amounts of certain items. I have had a few ask, and tell them I am buy for the local food bank. Always gotta have plausible deniability just in case people get tooooo nosey.
Hope you have a good day; will be back later to cruise.
warrior
Hey Warrior...thanks for stopping by ths morning. I can't imagine seeing one of these the size of a basketball! Talk about some major spiderwebs!!
ReplyDeleteIt does make you wonder if the clerks even think about things like that. They are bound to get curious from time to time, but we can't afford to tell them too much. Like you said, just in case...
Have a good day!
Good morning Jim, That was fun! Spiders don't really creep me out like rats and mice do. Now THEY are UGLY! Your mother in-law LOL! I was watching the Lord of the rings sequel last night and there was a spider the size of a car! Now THAT would scare me. (BTW...is there really a spider the size of a basketball?? Holy crap! What do they eat??)
ReplyDeleteI love basmati rice. so much better than regular white...
Hey Lydia...thanks for coming by. I LOVE your new picture!
ReplyDeleteI don't even want to think about the creepy crawlers that are as big as a basketball! I think the biggest ones I've heard of are the ones in South America that eat birds and such!
Gives me the willies...
Hermit I hate spiders! They seem to like me been bit 3 different times!Once by a brown recluse that was not fun! Once unknown nasty bite took antibiotc to clear up! Once by a wolf spider! Got a staff infection from that little bite thumb swelled 3 times it's normal self..... My motto all spides must die!
ReplyDeletePretty scary critters, alright! Hey, I have no problem in getting rid of them.
ReplyDeleteI remember years ago when I was a kid, my Uncle Bill told me to always shake out your boots before putting them on, to get rid of the spiders and scorpions...just in case!
Thanks for coming by!
Jim, you're so kind! Thank you. Sure makes me feel better about using such a close up picture :) That one was actually taken the day I made your rib recipe, for my dads birthday. The reason it is so close up you would otherwise see my dads ear.. :)
ReplyDeleteThey eat birds????? Glad I don't live there!
We have bats around here and of course groundhogs and such. Maybe I wont complain about those so much now. There is a guy I know who has 9 bathouses! Built onto his trees surrounding the back of his house. he says he never gets any insects. (I would really rather have insects, but hey. )
Have a great day! And thanks again for the compliment.. :)
lydia
Hey Lydia...it's my pleasure, believe me! And I like the close up!
ReplyDeleteA friend and me used to catch wolf spiders at the print shop we worked at... we'd build little plastic tubes-- arenas, we'd call 'em-- and have "spider fights". Boy can those wolf spiders jump!
ReplyDeleteLydia, the positive thing about bats... they keep the mosquitoes at bay! not so fun when they get tangled in hair, though...
BTW, i like the new photo, too. Not brave enough to use a closeup meself-- the spiders and bats are creepy enough!
Cool link, uncle. Glad this guy doesn't jump like those wolf spiders did!
cygnus
Camel spiders the guys in Iraq worry about are pretty big too. If they are outside we ususally leave them be but one night coming over a hill I saw a trantula crawling on the next hill. I really needed new glasses so it must have been a big one. Made the dh try to run it over but he missed. Man I hope that one stays in the woods!
ReplyDeleteThe kids had a lot of fun playing with the spider & changing the looks. Thanks for the link.
Hey Stephanie...thanks for dropping by. Glad the kids enjoyed the link. I don't think things creep them out like they do us, but when I was a kid I probably would have liked it myself!
ReplyDeleteTell the kids that they can keep the spider!!
Your ex-mother-in-law? Are you, by any chance, referring to my maternal grandmother? I'll have you know that back in the day she was considered mildly attractive. Of course, photography hadn't been invented yet, so there's no proof.
ReplyDeleteIn any event, I guess if I still had that pet tarantula you wouldn't ever come to visit me. But she died. How do you feel about snakes?
Hugs,
Ashley
I'm not a fan of spiders either, but I must be getting immune in the fear deparment. I found a hobo in my garage and have been staring at it in the mason jar I caught it in for several days now.
ReplyDeleteHey HSjacobus...I'm glad you dropped by today. Nature is always worth studying...even spiders.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a youngster, we would put trantulas and red wasp in the same jar and study them for hours. Sometimes children can be so cruel.
I tried having pets like lizards and such, but could never keep them alive.
Hey Jim, give me a spider any day. Well, over a snake that is. I am scared to death of snakes and I'm really not the kind of guy that scares easy. Even a dead one on the road give me that funny feeling like somethings on me. I just can't shake it. LOL
ReplyDeleteChris
Hey Chris...thanks for coming over. I think that if anyone just leaves snakes and spiders and such alone...they will leave us alone! At least, I hope so!
ReplyDeleteSnakes like the rattler at least give you a warning...but spiders and scorpions don't!
Hey, that sorta sounds like the gub'ment! No warning before they attack!
