Where Does Time Go...?

You know, it seems like yesterday that the "roomies" were small!

Somewhere down the line, we went from this...

To this...! This is the biggest of the roomies "Smokey". Not so small any more, is he?

Then there is his brother "C.B.". The initials are for the name "cry baby". How he went from a cute little kitten here...

To a nearly grown up cat, still cute but not so little anymore so fast is a wonder. Grown into a very pretty, highly opinionated Siamese, who doesn't take any crap from anyone!

These guys are my closest friends. They are the reason I sometimes smile when I don't really feel like smiling. They are a lot like children at times, causing grief when they can't see in their mind that they have done anything wrong.

When I am down, like any friend they make themselves available by just being there...without forcing themselves on me. They give me hugs each day, accept hugs in return, and in their own catlike way let me know that they are proud to have me as a roomie! They bring joy into my life daily...just because that's what friends do!

Now, my friends, the roomies and I invite you to join us on the patio for a cup of coffee...OK?

  1. Hi Uncle Hermit,

CB and Smokey are two very handsome kitties.

It is amazing the way our furbabies seem to know when we need them. My husky,Taelia, and my shih-tzu,Toby, are very attuned to my moods. When I am sad, they will both stay right by my side, when I am happy they seem to laugh with me. :D

The 9 felines, not so much they are more aligned with Catman, but then he has always attracted cats.

I hold a very special place in my heart for animals. They are very special friends indeed.

I'd be happy to share that coffee with you, my friend, and how about some kitty treats for the roomies?

    Hugs~Felinae~

  2. Hey Felinae...
No doubt in my mind that animals can sense the moods of their partners.

It would be our honor to hve you join us...and the guys said "YEAH!" to the treats! They are sooo easy sometimes./..

Thanks for coming by this morning...

  3. What a great pair of roomies!! Some things in life can't be explained -like the affection for a wonderful pet.
There is no greater satisfaction than the unconditional love they return to us. I would sacrifice many things before I would my dog. I understand all that you are saying and totally agree.

  4. Love CB & Smokie, they might be self-opinionated siamese but they don't ask for much only that you love them and they give it in quantities in return.. I miss my dogs, particularly Sam who took my heart with him when he died Oct 07 and whose presence I feel every day.. one day I will be lucky to be adopted again but until then I will be green with envy of your roomies... enjoy the coffee

  5. I know the feeling. Our roomies were acquired this past Nov. 1st, one a Burmese kitten who hitched a rid with my boss's truck and scratched the daylights out of him when rescued from compartment, the other a neighbor's kitten whose outside appearance was Siamese Seal Point.

Both of them about 3 weeks old or thereabouts - tiny little things they were. Leo the Burmese is about 9 pounds now, and extremely playful and vocal. Very athletic - he will stand up on his rear paws very often when playing around. Our 7 year old daughter plays the 'I will hug him and pet him and love him and squeeze him' daughter routine and he just patiently soaks it up.

Sabrina is about 6 pounds and is far more reserved - her glare when affronted definitely tells the story, lol. When taken to vet the 1st time for check up and given the teeth check, she extended her paw and pulled out the claws - definitely with 'I will cut you bitch!' meaning all over it, I laughed my donkey off.

They are both great pets, spending 100% of the time indoors. They make our lives much better - they fall asleep on my wive's bosom as we watch TV.

    They grow up so fast.

  6. As the song says, "That's what friends are for..." I know my Flame Point Siamese, Lightning, listens to my troubles and tolerates my hugs, then gives everything back double. My life is much brighter for having this friend, and a brother who knows how to tell a tale.

    Hugs -

  7. His mother was a malamute, his dad a wolf. He was born on my birthday 1971 the year my sons were nine and twelve. We named him Wolf. He was intelligent, affectionate, no more insubordinate than my other sons, absolutely fearless in defence of the family amnd loyal until death. He weighed 110. Strangers at the yard gate noticed him. He died Dec 1982. He is buried under the pecan tree. sometimes I stop to say hello.

  8. Good morning Mr Hermit,
AWWW They are beautiful. Makes me sad I can't have one. Alerigies are the worst.
Sorry I didn't get back to everyone to go to the pool yesterday have been way to busy with the estate stuff. I haven't even been to the pool myself in over a week now. Will go this morning for sure. So meet you all there at 9am, But then must start to run again. And try and get home before the storms start.

  9. Hey Rae...
I think sometimes that having a pet around helps to keep us grounded. I know that the very fact that these two even allow me to hold them or pick them up amazes me sometimes.

Pets are definitely good for me!

    Thanks for the visit, Rae!

    Hey Sage...
So good to see you this morning! The memories of our lost pets is no less painful thanthe loss of any other friend.

I feel very glad that these two managed to put up with me this long...and don't seem in any hurry to leave!

Guess we are a famiy, huh? Hey, thanks for coming by, Sage!

    Hey Anon 5:10...
Funny how pets seem to just know when children are really not going to hurt them...and the same with anyone trying to help. Sometimes I feel that the tolerances they show could be a good thing for us all to have.

Hey, I really do appreciate the visit today!

    Hey Sis...
Your cat friend is very beautiful as well. I certainly can tell that he is happy where he lives...

My two are very special if they tolerate even a grouchy old man like me! Maybe they can see right through the disguise, ya think?

Sis, I really appreciate you coming over today...

    Hey Vlad...
Sounds like Wolf was a very special member of the family. Nice for your sons to have a friend like that to play with as they aere growing up.

The fact that you can stop by and say hello from time to time is great! That way, he can still be a part of the family memory pool that helps to keep us going when we need a lift!

    Thanks for stopping in, Vlad!

    Hey JoJo...
Yeah, we were waiting to go poolside! In this heat, I need a little cooling off, for sure...

I'm glad you are making headway in the estate department, though. Won't be long and you will be through!

Thake care, dear friend, and I'll see you a bit later!

  10. Awww! So sweet, Jim! Cats are truly a gift from God to us lowly creatures. We decided to let our Pearl have 1 liter before getting spayed and she gave us 3 adorable babies that look just like her and the smiles they constantly bring to our faces are priceless! Thanks for sharing those photos. Now, I'd love another cup, thanks.

  11. Hey Carol...
Hard to say if she will thank you or be angry with you in future years for allowing here to litter!

I sure don't want to think what I would do without my roomies...even though I was a little reluctant to get them in the first place!

Carol, I want to thank you for coming by today...I appreciate it!

  12. Good morning, Mister Hermit, sir!

My goodness, they were cute little fluff balls, and grown into such handsome gentlemen!

I was thinking only yesterday of how cats choose their people - and they DO choose, because a cat unhappy with its home will always find a way out.

I love my three girls - they have taken to curling up on and around me at night, and there's always someone purring, telling me they're there and happy for a pet or simple companionable silence/stillness, whatever my mood dictates. Once in a while, someone makes kitty-biscuits/plucks cotton/choose your euphemism, her eyes squinched shut, look of bliss on her face.

    Sigh.

I've wet their fur many a night when they were the only witnesses to my weeping., and fallen asleep with a tail clasped in my hand more times than I can count - and you know, that's just a heck of a thing, because cats don't usually go in for that sort of behavior.

When asked, once, what I would do if my son was allergic to cats, I responded "Then he'll have to find somewhere else to live - the cats were here first." I was only half joking.

Joan Rivers once said, when being interviewed about depression, that her dog was often the only reason she was still alive - when she was so low that even down looked up, she would consider suicide, but the idea of someone else feeding her little dog, of having the care of it, would stop her...she knew no one would love her pet like she did. I've had occasion to relate to the sentiment.

I'm glad you have your friends, sir. That they made you their human speaks volumes...

    Shade and Sweetwater,
    K

  13. LOL! You hit it, Jim! She was quite surprised at her production and most of the time has nothing but disgust for their presence at this point. Still, she will clean them occasionally before slapping them around a bit and then sometimes she will even bring them some nice little friend from the field to play with as if trying to teach them to catch their own. One night she brought in a live mouse and called them all to the room before dropping it for them to chase...what a good mother!

  14. Hey K...
I have spent many a night just as you have described, with the cats tail in my grasp! Smokey, in fact, has to have a way to reach over and touch me on the head or face or even the arm...just likes the touching. My mom's cat is the same way with her!

I'm sure at times that the roomies have kept me from really going off on someone just by their presents.

Thanks so much, dear lady, for coming by!

  15. Hey Carol...
Isn't that just like a mom? Bringing home a new toy for the young ones...just to keep them from driving mom nuts?

I'm looking forward to having a good dog when I move, but the roomies will always be special to me!

  16. Good luck introducing the dog...perhaps a puppy would be best so they can 'train' it to their liking. Our dog, Brandy, thinks the kitties are HER babies. Once a lost beagle tried to take up at the house and this caused great havock among the young ones...not a pretty picture at all....

  17. Love the new pics Jim!
It does just seem like yesterday huh? They sure grow fast.
Need to post a new one of Jake myself. He's growing like a weed.
    Take care buddy,
    Hugs 2 You

  18. Hey Blondie...
Now that you are a bit older, do you feel any wiser? Don't worry, it never seems to be that way for me either!

I really appreciate you dropping in today for a visit!

    Hugs back at ya!

  19. My dopey dog is the same way. She's gettin' old, and arthritic, but she still manages to conjure up a "nutso fit" at just the right time to make me smile. And I love it when she pounces on the wife's cat, heh heh heh.... Don't worry, kitty's got claws, and she puts an end to "play time" when she's ready to.....

  20. Hey Mayberry...
Yeah, cats havew a way of letting you know when enough is enough...and usually aren't shy about sharing that feeling!

Animals are a welth of entertainment, for sure!

Hey, thanks for thew visit today!

  21. It's been awhile since I had a cat or two of my own, but I know, they do have quite the personality. I like them. They are alot more independent than my dumb dog too. But I still would'nt trade ya for any money Jim.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey FCH...
I know what you mean, my friend. It's like trading off a member of the family. We can really get attached to our pets, without a doubt.

But what would we ever do without them? Thanks for coming by...

  23. Darling kittens grew into beautiful cats. I have been missing having a pet lately and when I see gorgeous cats like these I want to find a kitten to raise again. When you say "they give me hugs each day" my heart did flips!

  24. Hey TechnoBabe...
I can't imagine a day without the roomies around! Before they came here to live, I wanted to just be by myself...but now these little guys are my constant companions, my bodyguards, my strongest supporter, and my most harsh critics!

Now if I could only teach them to bark!

    Hey, thanks for coming by...!

  25. Love the kitty cats!! I had a Siamese cat for 18 years. Quite the character!!

Mine are a lot of company and I wouldn't trade them for anything...!

    Thanks for the visit...
