The folks supposedly in charge are really pushing the fact that (to them) this present conflict we are involved in is NOT a war.
Funny...but it looks like a war, sounds like a war, cost like a war, reeks of death like a war! If it isn't a war, I wonder just what it is?
Just one more thought about war...
Have a great Saturday! Now, let's get some fresh coffee and sit outside, OK?
Good morning, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThere are few things worse than war. Better thinkers than I, have expounded on the subject and I refuse to dredge up past memories. Tis better to avoid it if possible, and when it's not possible to avoid it, then prosecute it as swiftly as possible.
Too philosophical this early in the morning.
Take care my friend.
YOF
I had never heard either of these songs but they seem to hit the nail on the head, yeah?!
ReplyDeleteRaining and very cold here so coffee on the patio sounds good to me. I will furnish the home made rolls and cookies.
Love ya.
Songs say it just as well now as they did when they were written oh so many years ago.
ReplyDeleteHey YOF...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunate that we have seen so many wars, and it looks like we will see so many more in our lifetime!
You take care, my friend! Thank you for coming by today!
Hey Sis...
The first one was put out in 1969. I guess we all know what war was going on then!
Back up to the 80s today, so outside seems to be a good place to go.
Thanks for dropping in today!
Hey Momlady...
Back then they must have seen what was coming! Or could it be that the human condition hasn't changed all that much over time?
Whatever the reason, songs like this are still as relevant today as they ever were!
I appreciate you coming by today!
I think it's funny and disgusting how each administration comes out with their own term for war now. "Kinetic military action" pffft! and this is how stupid they believe the American people to be; that we won't know the difference, I guess.
ReplyDeleteHey Anne...
ReplyDeleteI always heard that if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck...well, you get the idea!
I don't know what the hell the prez was thinking when he took it on himself to start us on the path to another war! I have a feeling he is in disfavor with a lot of folks in DC for doing it without getting permission from the "big boys" first!
No matter what they call it...it's still WAR!
Thanks, my friend, for coming by today!
Thanks Hermit. Sort of thought I was alone in hating war. This is a good companion post for mine last Saturday. My brother experienced this war and lives with results as I think every last soldier lives and is burdened by, which in turn affects all of society.
ReplyDeleteVery sick...warmongers are.
Hey Sissy...
ReplyDeleteYou do NOT stand alone in your hatred of war! Any sane person shares your feelings.
It seems to me that there must be another way to settle things without starting or getting involved in war!
But then the money boys would lose out on a few more million!
Hey, thanks for coming by today!
I believe we should bring our troops home to guard the borders, close overseas bases, and not get involved in wars that do not threaten us. If America the Beautiful is threatened we should go instantly to war, use maximum force, keep killing them until the enemy begs to be allowed to surrender. Nagasaki took 30 seconds. God bless Harry Truman.
ReplyDeleteJohn Stuart Mill Quotes
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
Hey Vlad...
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, especially with the quote!
We need to stop jumping into things all over the world just because we can!
Thanks for coming by today!
You don't believe in war? Cool.
ReplyDeleteI'll tell you again. Selfdefence is optional. A lady who does not mind being raped, while watching her 16 year old daughter gangraped by AIDS infected scumbags, has no need for a gun.
Please understand what happens when you do not defend yourself and the homeland.
My maternal grandmother (1889-1940) was past Cherokee. I do not know who her father was. Maybe the First Sgt, two cooks and the bugler for all I know.

1950 China invaded tibet, killed those who could not work, put the kids in school, the men in labor camps, and the army took their women. In months ever fertile woman was pregnant with a child of the invader. https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Invasion_of_Tibet_%281950%29
Hey Vlad...
ReplyDeleteMaybe you misunderstood what I said! I said
We need to stop jumping into things all over the world just because we can!
When it comes to protecting myself, my family, and my homeland...then I will fight!
I just feel we have NO business getting involved in a "war for profit" or in a civil war of another country!
Of course, that's just my opinion!
Have a nice day!
Jim
ReplyDeleteMy second post was not aimed at you.
I posted it and then saw your responce my first post.. No offence meant.
Well, I am more a hawk than I am a dove. I spent 16 years in the military. I do think someone in DC didn't do their homework on this one though. What all these politicians seem to forget is after all the fighting is done, the country must still be occupied. From just where are we going to get these people?? And more important, with the state of the "economy" what are we going to pay them with? Monopoly Money???
ReplyDeleteHey Curt...
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a hawk myself, but I don't think it's a good idea for us to get involved in another conflict over there!
You can bet that congress was NOT happy with the prez about his making a decision without their OK.
All about the power! And I agree totally about the money...where is it going to come from?
Hey, thanks for coming by today!
