Another Honest Working Man...!

More and more we see stories of honest, everyday working men and women.

Most of the time, these folks are older. Maybe they become more honest with age, or maybe they have always been that way. I, for one, don't believe something like honesty can be learned. I'm thinking that it's something you have to be born with.

Anyway, I wanted to share this story because it shows the side of humanity we don't see often enough, at least in my humble opinion!

Plumber finds $20,000 in an air duct, turns it in

FLORIDA —

A Florida plumber found $20,000 in an air duct and decided to do the right thing.

Jerry Laliberte was trying to access a leaky shower when he found the money and decided to turn it in.

The 62-year-old employee of Air and Energy said he was scared at first when he found the cash wrapped in foil.

"I was scared. It scared me. My hands were shaking," said Laliberte. "I wasn’t sure what to do, to tell the truth."

Laliberte said he believes he only did what everybody should do.

The previous homeowner was a widow who stashed money all over the house. She told her children where the money was when she died, but forgot one of her hiding places.

If you have an older relative that insist on hiding all their money at home, try and get them to write down where it is before they pass. If you can't do that, then at least make sure you have an honest plumber or repairman!

I'm ready for some fresh coffee on the patio this morning...are you?

  1. My dad doesn't have money hidden in his air ducts, but that's where the handguns are hidden. That would surprise a repair man.

  2. We boys never found what ever Daddy stashed (at least none of them admitted it)

As for his guns, I found the one old one Granddaddy had carried as a RR Mail Clerk.

If Daddy buried his stash , never find it on the 27 acres till someone bulldozes the place for new construction I guess.

  3. Hey Sixbears...
It just might get his attention at that!

As long as you remember where they are at, that's the main thing!

Be sure and tell someone or leave a note!

    Thanks for dropping by today!

    Hey Ben...
He may not have hidden anything, but you just never know.

Lots of places to hide stuff on 27 acres, that's for sure.

Thanks, buddy, for coming by this morning.

  4. A friend lost her mother a year ago, and found things stashed all over the place. Money, diamond earings, bracelets lots of other jewelry with diamonds. After a year they think they have found everything and can now put the house on the market.
I don't know what these people are thinking when they do this. Who knows how much stuff gets thrown away because it was wrapped in a tissues and stuck in a pocket of an old sweater.
Oh well my kids don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. Don't have it. LOL
I'm always ready for fresh coffee with you.

  5. Hey JoJo...
Mom isn't too bad about hiding stuff in her house. At least, not that I know of.

Who knows, she may have lots more than I know about.

I'm like you, sweetie. Don't have enough to hide!

Sure was great you could come over!

  6. You know, in Texas, there is no 'finders keepers' law. If you find a sack of money (or anything else) and do the right thing and turn it over to the 'authorities', they don't have to give it back to you. If they don't have an owner for it and it goes unclaimed it gets awarded to that agency. That's the way the law is written.

Just something to think about if you want to do the right thing. I'd love to change that law but I'm just a little guy with an idea.

  7. Hey Czardastx...
It would be a true test of the morals of a lot of people, that's for sure.

I wouldn't expect any of the PTB to give any of it back because that's just the way they roll! Sad!

    Thanks for dropping by today!

  8. I used to hide little bits of money until the day came that I really needed it and couldn't find it! Needless to say, I'm still discovering it.
