I have to admit it is certainly one way to stay warm. It does make me wonder though, just how much firewood this guy has to carry! Let's just hope he never has a wreck!
Zany Swiss man installs wood-burning stove in car

Why yes, officer, that is a wood-burning stove in my glove box.
It's hard to imagine what led Pascal Prokop to install a wood-burning stove in his 1990 Volvo 240 station wagon. Though we're safe to say that the trend won't catch like wildfire.

Wood burns in a stove as Pascal Prokop drives his 1990 Volvo 240 station wagon during cold winter weather on a road near the town of Mettmenstetten, south of Zurich on Thursday, Feb. 9.
Prokob built and installed the wood-fired stove himself and got an operating permit from the Swiss technical inspection authority.
And you thought old Volvo station wagons weren't hot...
Hey...I guess we all need a hobby, right?
Coffee in the kitchen this morning. The rain last night got the patio all wet!
I wonder if it converts into a wood-fired air-conditioner in the summer? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHell, plumb that sucker up to the engine and use that stuff going out the stack...
ReplyDeleteDang and here I replaced my heater core last year! Shoot I coulda just got an airtite wood stove,97 blazer, trust me wood stove would of been easier!

He may have the last laugh if he's running is car off it. wood gas generator
ReplyDeleteMaybe he wanted something warmer in the seat next to him than his wife (grin).
ReplyDeleteOK I don't think I will be wanting one of those anytime soon. I wonder what he does in the summer for his cooling system?. At least he is inventive.
ReplyDeleteCoffee in the kitchen is good with me I will bring long some rolls.
I'm with the others on why is he wasting the smoke from his wood when he could get double duty from it. JOJO I've been playing in the kitchen making jellies and jams here lately so I will bring some for everybody to try out with the rolls.
ReplyDeleteYou never know.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh :-) :-) But I have to say that the Volvo's I've had were the only cars that really gave heat these nasty cold winters up here in the north. I have a small Mazda now and I can say it is rather bad when it comes to heat :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Christer.
Well it passed inspection so I guess it's legal. LOL.
ReplyDeleteActually, up here in Washington state I had a wood burning stove in my camper and never got pulled over cuz smoke was coming out of the stack as I headed home after a camping trip.
ReplyDeleteUntil recently when I had to take it and my homemade propane heater out to make room for a new propane heater.
I'm going to miss my wood heater, well, maybe not so much, at 68 I'm getting a bit lazy and don't want to work at keeping a fire alive, anymore than I want to grow my own food when I can afford to buy it.

ReplyDeleteAs a retired master mechanic my best guess is that his heater core started leaking and he didn't want to go through the gawd awful job of replacing it.
