Just when you think the world is going to hell in a hand basket, you find a sign like this!
Now I'm thinking that there might just be a ray of hope for the human race! Who knows...maybe the gift of just one book, offered for free if you don't have the money to buy it, could make a big difference in someone's life! Could be that it isn't the book, but the trust?
Worth a shot, don't you think?
Coffee on the patio this morning. Guess what? It's always free here!
A rare individual!
ReplyDeleteHow else to get ride of some books. Coffee sounds good, B.Y.O.C.
ReplyDeleteWhere is that place? I must go there. :)
ReplyDeleteDecades ago I picked up a second hand copy of "Possum Living." It changed my life.
Love those used bookstores.
There are still some good people around after all.

ReplyDeleteThose of us who are dedicated readers, like you and I, can deeply appreciate this soul's kindness. The desire, no, the need, to read is what makes me volunteer to teach illiterate adults. The sense of sight I think I would miss most as it opens so many doors, especially through the written word. Kudos to this individual - hope he makes many paying friends as well.
Big hugs -
Here in WI some communities have started a community "lending library". It is a little red box on a street corner with some paperback books in it. You can take some out or put some in, or borrow some if you like. Supposedly it has taken off in some smaller towns. Since I love to read I really like the idea. "Trust" with this program seems to be working so far. Books are so important. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteThat is great. Some people just can't afford to buy even a .50 book.
ReplyDeleteReady for a refill thank you.
Hey Gorges...
ReplyDeleteWe could use more folks like that around!
Thanks for the visit today!
Hey Rob...
For the most part, I bet they are going to a good cause!
Thanks, my friend, for coming by today!
Hey Sixbears...
Amazing what a difference just a single book can have on a person, isn't it?
I love those book stores as well!
Thanks for dropping by today!
Hey Ben...
Unfortunately we just don't hear about them much. Not newsworthy, I reckon!
Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!
Hey Sis...
I'm thinking that a higher power pretty much helps out folks like this!
I have to agree about the ability to read being a real gift!
Thanks for coming by today!
Hey Linda...
The fact that someone is willing to trust in human nature enough to start this, is reason to hope!
Some where down the line we lost the gift of trust...and I think it's time to try and get that back!
Thanks so much for coming over today!
Hey JoJo...
Like Sixbears said, sometimes a single book can turn things around for a person!
Thanks, sweetie, for coming over this morning!
Reminds me of the guy who put an old refrigerator on the sidewalk in front of his house with a sign that read FREE – YOU HAUL. It sat there for several days, then he replaced the sign with one that read FOR SALE - $50. It was gone the next morning. LOL.
ReplyDelete“Decades ago I picked up a second hand copy of "Possum Living." It changed my life.” Good book, and it’s available free online.
Bless that little Book Store!
ReplyDeleteWe exchange books at the laundry mat here in the 'Trailerhood'.. Take one leave one or two...
MMmmm...Coffee smells GOooD!!
i'll bring a couple books over :]
It seems that only the bad things people do make the news so it not too often that the good people do gets told.
ReplyDeleteSo do we get to know where the store is? Id love to go.
