Too Many Users And Takers...!
As of late, I find myself around more of the users and the takers.
The people I'm referring to are the ones that believe the whole world revolves around them. They seem to believe that everything that is done is for their benefit. They take and take, always using what they take from others but with no concern for those they take from.
These people are the takers of not only things, but of dreams as well. They have no dreams or visions of their own, so feel that no one should have any either. They bring nothing to the table of life, offer nothing of value to share, and do their best to discourage any original action unless it is directly for them and their benefit.
These parasites use , but never replace. They use, but never ask. They use, but never share! Left to their own devices, they are worthless and empty. They have no purpose except to take. When they have no one left to take from, they perish. If they cannot take the lions share of the dreams of others, they destroy those dreams if possible.
These people try and insert themselves into the lives of others, as they have no lives of any value of their own. They want to share the friends of others, as they have no friends of their own. They want acceptance from others, as they cannot and do not accept themselves.
The rest of us can refuse to let the users and takers from infiltrating our lives if we only admit that we know them for what they are. They might pretend to be friends, but offer no acts of friendship. They may act as family, but do not hold to the same values that our true family does. They may say they are part of our community, but do nothing to contribute to the value and good of the community!
I, for one, will not set a place at my table for such as these. I will not allow the likes of these people to darken my doorstep any longer. There will be no welcome at my fire for those that follow the path of using and taking.
I, and the rest of my friends and community, will offer help to those that need help and cannot do for themselves. We will teach those that really want to learn to better themselves. We will serve gladly as guides for those that really want to follow the same path as we, as long as they wish to someday help to guide others that are lost or confused about where our path is.
We will share our bounty with those that share in our labor. We will share our friendship with those that offer their friendship in return. We will offer a place in our community for those that really want to become a viable part of that community. There will always be a place at my table for those that do not expect a larger portion than the others at the table.
I will share what I have, but will not give it away. I will help you, not do it for you. I can only feel your pain and share your happiness if it is truly heartfelt.
All I ask is that you wear no mask. Be honest with me, expect honesty in return. You may ask of me, but make no demands. I will gladly accept you as a companion on my journey, as long as our paths lead in the same direction. When we must part and take different paths, may we do so with a smile, a handshake, and a memory of a pleasant fellow traveler.
Now let's get a fresh cup of coffee, my friend. And please, share my patio for a while, OK?
Hear, Hear! I agreeably concur.
ReplyDeleteLet the users and nagativity proponets go their own way.
Thanks, Bubba!
Hey Sis...
ReplyDeleteWould be nice if we could do without them all together, but we know that won't happen, don't we?
Thanks so much for coming by today, Sis!
Right on the money, HJ
ReplyDeleteYeOldFurt
Hey YOF...
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame, isn't it? Hey, thanks for the visit today, my friend!
You have a good one...
Excellent post Jim. If everyone would be like that I truly believe life would be sooo much better.
ReplyDeleteRod
Hey Rod...
ReplyDeleteI think we all know someone that's like this. A crying shame...
Saddest part is, I'm not sure that some of these folks even know they are like this.
Hey, thanks for the visit, buddy!
Gee, you HAVE met my family! You describe them to a 'T' which is why I no longer allow them in my life. I think there's a population explosion of Narcissists. And, you are right, they seem to be completely unaware. Pass the sugar, I'm having coffee today. :D
ReplyDeleteHey Melissa...
ReplyDeleteSad to say, but I don't think the folks that are like this ever will recognise it.
Sometimes I feel that the biggest distracters come from our own family, and they should be our strongest supporters...go figure!
Glad to have you sharing the patio this morning...
HJ:
ReplyDeleteNice post. Very true.
Something is coming, and the more I try to get ready, the more negativity I get from most family members.
The main thing for me is being there for my 3 year old child and my wife (even though she is still in denial).
Those who are trying to ready themselves and their families are soon going to have legions of the parasites you talk about knocking on their doors - or maybe just trying to break in at night with a crowbar.
Hey Publius...
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid you're right, my friend. So much of the time, the biggest obsticales we face come from within the family.
All we can do is to continue to act of their behalf and watch out for their interest. Eventually, the "Eureka" moment will come, and the wisdom of our actions will be apparent to all the doubters.
Thanks so much for dropping by and leaving a comment today! I appreciate it!
This is so true, Jim. There are so many people in the world who want to take everything they can get their hands on, but are never willing to help anyone else when they are down.
ReplyDeleteHey Eddie...
ReplyDeleteSeems to be more of that kind around than there used to be. But then, maybe I'm just now beginning to recognise them for what they really are.
Hey, I appreciate you taking the time to drop by today...
Jim, have you met my ex-wife? Must have because you describe her like you have known her for decades.
ReplyDeleteHi HJ,
ReplyDeleteI think part of the change that is coming is a stratification of the honest, useful folk from the vultures and thieves. Better to recognize them now and make the break, before it is a matter of survival.
Fill 'er up!
Masks - that's what I'm talking about today. When some have to put them on, it's soul killing.
ReplyDeleteAnd you just reminded me AGAIN that I want to do a post about "show us your front porch".
Peace out my friend.
I agree too. I often wonder about those folks who are on city boards, who make decisions affecting people's lives. Do they ever wonder if they pi$$ off the wrong person, they may find themselves in the dark with someone who is willing to go to desperate measures to 'right a wrong'. Do those board members ever think that a decision they make ever have consequences to THEM?
ReplyDeleteDark thoughts, I know but I listen to some folks who have property issues that given a little time, might push them over the brink. How does that lyric go . . . 'when you have nothing, you have little to lose ' . . .
Here's to you Jim!! Great post! I hope I won't be parting your company soon!
ReplyDeleteAs for masks...hell I don't even wear makeup! hehe
Have a terrific day!
Cath
Beautiful, wonderful post! You out did yourself today!
ReplyDeleteHey M.D....
ReplyDeleteHaven't had the pleasure of meeting your ex...but I have four in my past. I think that maybe they have a big Ex's Club somewhere! Seems like if you meet one ex, you pretty much have the blueprint for the others...
Thanks for coming by today, Buddy!
Hey Maitreya...
Been wondering where you were! Have been missed, my friend...
You're right about us needing to recognise the users and takers now and separate from them. Sure don't want them around later.
So, when are you going on the road again? I keep chewcking for an update...
Hey Meadowlark...
Sad that some people have to wear a mask in front of others. I wonder if they wear one for themselves as well? Probably only on the inside to try and hide from their inner self.
I think a post on front porches would be interesting...what kind, how big, the view...man, it opens up a range of fodder for posting.
Thanks for the visit, Lady!
Hey Anon 12:36...
I don't those kinds of people ever worry about the feelings of others, nor do they ever consider the consiquences of any decision they make.
Can't imagine having to go all my life not caring for those less fortunate than myself. But I sleep good at night, and can look at myself in the mirror without hating what I see!
Thanks for the visit and the comments...
Hey Cath...
I don't think we'll be parting company any time soon, my friend. Our paths are headed in the same direction, and the company is very enjoyable!
Thanks for coming by today...
Hey Worn out...
I certainly thank you ma'am! That's a very nice thing to say! Im glad you enjoyed the read, and glad also that you took the time to come by and visit! It means a lot, believe me!
Nice post Jim, Yes the world would surely be a lot nicer without that sort, but would it really? It would be what then..we would all be the same? Am not trying to be a smart a** just pointing out that you would not be the nice person that you seem to be without having the others to compare you to.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I think there are users in the world because there are givers..you know? Sure you do. I can tell how kind you are just in the way you write. People gravitate to you, and yes, even the users. In fact, especially the users. But...Don't change, we love you just as you are!
:)

I did enjoy reading your post. Twice in fact. Once this morning and again now, and thought how right you are in all that you said and how fed up many of us get with that behaviour, but then I realized, there is a reason for all there is. Am certain you know this, but happen to be fed up during what seems to be a stressful and uncertain time for America or for the world in fact.
Oh here go my fingers..blah blah..Sorry! Did not mean to ramble away here.
Thanks for the thought provoking posts.
:)
Hey Lydia...
ReplyDeleteThere will always be the users and takers. The hardest part is to take them out of the equation altogether in cases of emergency or trouble.
I always appreciate all views on any subject...that's what keeps us informed. A good discussion is fuel for the mind, don't you think?
Hey, my smiling friend, thanks for coming by and commenting.
Always givers & takers and it seems to start young. We see it all the time in 4H and in my friends Girl Scouts, too bad because they miss out on the best parts of life.
ReplyDeleteGlad to share the porch & you are welcome to shade mine if you are ever in the area.
Hey Stephanie...
ReplyDeleteI guess that the reason they start so young, is that they are following the examples set by their family or their peers. A lot of people haven't figured out that kids pick up on what we do more than what we say!
That's why it's so important to teach by example...
I'll ber more than proud to share a spot on your porch, if I ever get up that way! It would be an honor to do so...
There are definately alot of good people out there Jim. I for one am not perfect, but I do hear you perfectly well on this one. There are, in my opinion way to many users and takers. I usually just try to stay away from them as much as possible, but sometimes they come around anyway.
ReplyDeleteHey FCH...
ReplyDeletethere are indeed many, many good people out there. Luckily, we find more good than bad...at least in our immediate circles.
I think that many times in the past, we have tolorated the takers too much. Now is the time to draw a line of separation and abide by it. Not only for our own sake, but for the sake of those that haven't learned to do for themselves as of yet. They need to learn this now, before it becomes a matter of life and death for them.
Hey, my friend, thanks so much for stopping by!
Jim, you've just reminded me of how truly fortunate I am. My husband and daughters love me as I am, my family doesn't think I'm crazy, my friends laugh with me - not at me, and even my co-workers are supportive. I'm one lucky woman...
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya man, I've always said that when SHTF, I will help anyone out that brings a shovel, garden hoe or an ax and willingness to work...then we can talk about how much food I have to share.
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed from time to time since I've started blogging that there are those people that like to stop in at other peoples blogs and criticize and complain, because the content isn't what "they" want, yet they don't offer any ideas, or solutions themselves.
I read a lot of blogs and normally don't have enough time to comment to all of them, but when I do, I try to say something nice. If I happen to disagree with the author, I do it respectfully and try to offer up other solutions.
Good post!
Hey AP...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you hear tonight. I'm pleased to have you take the time to post a comment, believe me.
Some may think we are being selfish in not wanting to include everyone just as they are...but in a survival situation, I just don't believe we can afford to do that. It may sound harsh to some, but in the end the name of the game IS survival!
Thanks so much for coming by!
I don't think we are selfish at all by not including everyone in a survival situation, too much weight will sink the lifeboat. I think this sums it all up:
ReplyDeleteSURVIVAL CREED:
THE WELL PREPARED ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO ENDANGER THEIR OWN SURVIVAL TO ASSIST THOSE WHO HAVE REFUSED, FOR WHATEVER REASONS, TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR OWN WELFARE! POOR PLANNING BY YOU DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY ON OUR PART! Miles Stair..endtimes report
I think if the sheep out there would realize our economy is about to collapse and what that means, and what it means to live in a third would country, then they would begin preparing, because if they will not prepare and will not work, then they cannot rely on us to help them out.
Hey Jim, Thanks :) I guess I misunderstood, or was not considering that this is meant mostly for the preppers or during dire situations. Anyway, I do know you appreciate all views and is why I frequently comment on your always enjoyable posts. Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteAmerican Prepper, I apologize to you in advance if I have misunderstood your comment as well, but would just like to say that I have been reading and commenting on Jims blog for well over a year and have but once or twice seen anyone post to criticize or complain about something he writes. Most everyone who comes here is peaceful and enjoys Jims posts, myself included.
:)

Your words really touched me, in more ways than I could ever tell you.
ReplyDeleteI have recently had the worst experience of my life with a user & taker. It has been so bad, that I am forced to file bankruptcy. This user that I have been fighting to get out of my life for good, shows back up every now and again in order to make another jab at me (a sort of kick me while I am down).
I am a fighter and will not allow a user/taker to take my spirit. Although, I am concerned that these sort of people seem to gravitate towards me. I have gotten better at weeding out the bad. And, my hope is very high that the good will come.
As my mother has always told me, what comes around . . . goes around. Whether or not we are there to see it . . . these users/takers will get theirs in the end.
Hey Anon 9:09...
ReplyDeleteJust keep your head up and know that you always have our support, anytime you need it.
Try and stay as positive as possible, my friend. Remember, positive attitudes attract positive results...negative attrcts negativity! I believe this with all my heart!
Lydia; apology accepted, I should have been more clear, I was referencing to users and takers that have come to my own blog and criticized the way I do things...I get very few myself, but those types that I'm talking about make harsh criticisms without offering useful opinions or alternate solutions. I always accept constructive criticisms and opinions.
ReplyDeleteI think more what I was doing was joining in on Hermit Jims little rant about Users and Takers because they are the type of people that really rack my nerves.
Yep, he has some great posts and good writings here and I've been way over do to leave a comment
Yer a good man Jim.
ReplyDeleteTurn yer head, I kinda like Irish coffee.
Without the coffee, that stuff tears me up anymore.
Busted
Hey Busted...
ReplyDeleteI've had a few of those before! Not bad...even without the coffee!
In fact, I could use an Irish coffee without the coffee right now!
Hey. thanks for stopping in, Busted!
