The Way It Should Be...!

This is the way it should be for all of us that want it.

This is the way it WILL be if we have our way! This is the kind of life many of us want, many of us need! So listen up, Uncle Sammy...!

I, for one, don't want your intrusion into my life anymore. I don't want your help or "guidance" anymore! I do NOT want your opinion of what is good for me forced down my throat anymore!

Your idea of a perfect world does NOT fit mine. It's time to pay attention to what I say, what we say! How should it be? Sorta like this...

Now just in case you still don't get the message, Uncle Sammy...then this is another way of saying what a lot of us are really feeling! Maybe this is clear enough for ya!

Now if you'll excuse me...my friends and I are gonna get a fresh cup of coffee and sit on the patio for a while. You can join us, or you can just go away and leave us alone! Got it? Good!

Hey Rod...
I think you are right, my friend. They have forgotten who they work for...and need a "gentle" reminder!

Hey, thanks for the visit, my friend!

Where were all you people the last eight years when the Bush administration, with the help of the Republicans in Congress were trashing the Constitution and trying to take away our Constitutional and Civil Rights?

Or was that alright because that was white men doing it, and now that the man in the White House is black and is trying to restore some of the things that the last administration tried to destroy you view what he is doing as wrong!?!

Hey Eddie...
Maybe I missed something here, but what ever gave you the impression that I supported Bush..either of them! Did I make you angry calling Uncle Sam "sammy"? That was directed to the government, and NOT to an individual!

I am not racist...makes no difference to me what color the folks in government are. All I go by is what they can do, and the help they can gather around themselves to try and govern the best they can.

Right or wrong, I have always been of the thought that the President cannot do it alone...although Bush did manage to screw things up quite a bit without any visible help!

If you would care to go way back into the post archives here, you'll find that I have been saying that I wanted the government to leave me alone long before Obamma was elected.

I will continue to say that and it will still be directed to the GOVERNMENT as a whole...not to a single man!

I'm sorry if you thought I was bad mouthing a particular individual, but I think you took my post totally out of context. I'm sorry for what ever it was that I said that upset you.

I posted just last month that I wear NO lable...republicasn, democrate, liberal, conservative...the only lable I want to wear is a free American!

Grandpa Eddie said...

You say you wear no label, but yet you post a video with a picture of the Rebel flag and the State Flag of Texas.

The first stands for secession and racism, and the second is the flag of a state who's governor has said the state may secede, which Texas can not do, because he wants the Federal govt to stay out of the state's business, but yet comes begging for Federal tax dollars when anything happens.

You say you just want to be known as a free American and that you are not a racist, but yet you use an item in your post that stands for racism, bigotry, and the refusal of the same rights, liberties, and freedoms, for ALL people.

HermitJim said...

Now let me see if I understand...

Because I have a music video on my blog that pictures the state flag of Texas...then I am not a free American nor can I be? Because of the governor of Texas, who I've already said does not speak for me, asked for federal help then I am a racist? I did not chose the video because of the picture (which I did not select, btw)and because it pictures the Stars and Bars...but strangely enough I chose it because of the song.

I'm sad that you judge me to be a racist, and I guess that the time I spent in the Air Force helping to defend the United States of America counts for naught as far as you are concerned.

I'm saddened also by the fact that I still am seen by anyone to be against freedom for ALL men, especially after re-affirming my oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies!

Grandpa Eddie, check your history.... Texas has the RIGHT of secession, because we were an independent Republic. It is so written in the treaty joining the Republic of Texas with the United States. This is also the reason why Texas is the ONLY state that is allowed to fly our flag at the same height as the Stars and Stripes. I would say more, but I'll hold my tongue (fingers!) for now.....

Grandpa Eddie said...

Mayberry, Maybe you should recheck that. Texas had that right prior to the Civil War at which time Texas seceded from the Union with several southern states because they refused to accept blacks as a whole person instead of 3/5 of a person, and refused to end the practice of slavery. After the war was over, Texas lost that right to secede. Texas had to relinquish that "right" to be allowed back into the Union. What they did retain was the right to split into ten individual states, nothing more.

Mayberry said...

Well Grandpa, thanks for making me look that up! It seems that ANY state has the right to secede!

"Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the united States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other "free and independent State") from the United States. Joining the "Union" was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government "experts"—including Abraham Lincoln himself—may have ever said)."

Mayberry said...

P.S., while accepting blacks as whole persons may have been part of it, state's RIGHTS were the reason for the War of Northern Aggression, just as they will become the impetus for the second Civil War.....

Grandpa Eddie said...

Mayberry, Check the Constitution not some writings of a Texan. There is NOTHING in the Constitution that says any state has the right to secede.

And for this thing you call the "War of Northern Aggression, once again you seem to be mistaken or misled. The Southern States which seceded were the ones who fired the first shots, not the North.

Talk of a second Civil War is going to solve nothing. But if you think it is that important to you that Texas secedes from the Union, so be it. The rest of us will gladly use the tax dollars that Texas is using right now to fight the swine flu, as well as the tax dollars Texas uses to clean up after hurricanes and this years wildfires for things that the rest of us need. We can pull all the military bases out of Texas and stop repairing the Federal highway, too.

Mayberry said...

Works for me Grandpa, we don't need you here. Texas would be very well off without the theft of our money by the fedgov. The fact is that nanny.gov needs US. And as much as you don't want to see it, there is NOTHING in the Constitution that prevents ANY state from seceding.... Check, mate, and done....

Grandpa Eddie said...

WRONG AGAIN Mayberry! There is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that says any state CAN secede. Go ahead and secede, it will be saving the rest of us money.

And by the way, you need us far more than we need you! Without the rest of us you have no one to help pay for the clean up when disaster strikes.

Wow, Hermit, you got yerself a ginuwine lib troll!

Grandpa Eddie said...

Excuse me shedmaster, I am not a troll. I have been visiting Hermit Jim's blog for some time now, and I come here because I enjoy reading his words of wisdom. We are fairly close in age and have been through some of the same things, and I can identify with many of the things of which he speaks.

Just because one person has a difference of opinion with someone else does not make either one of them a troll.

Mayberry said...

Grandpa, I'm not gonna argue the fact that if our money was not stolen by the fedgov to begin with, we'd have no need for federal funds.... Nor am I gonna argue the fact that just because the right of secession is not specifically written into the Constitution does not make it impossible. I would argue that the 10th ammendment makes it possible. States are sovereign, therefore retain the right to withdraw themselves from a tyrannical government, as is our duty as Americans..... A duty in which we are derelict.....

Grandpa Eddie said...

Mayberry the 10th Amendment does not give the states the right to secede, it does give the states powers not delegated to the Federal govt, and the 16th Amendment gives the Federal govt the right to collect income taxes.

10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

16th Amendment: The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

The 10th Amendment says nothing about any state having the right to secede, just as in 1861 when no state had the right to secede then either.

Mayberry said...

OK Grandpa, you are a statist, and there is no arguing with a statist.... The 16th ammendment (which was never ratified legally) had nothing to do with this argument......

Grandpa Eddie said...

Mayberry, I never would have brought up the 16th Amendment, which was ratified on February 3rd of 1913, if you had not mentioned how Texas is being "robbed" by the Federal govt.

We all pay taxes, and many states get back far less then Texas does, and most of them are northern states. But we are all in this together and need to be able to help each other out when necessary.

I really think the succession thing got settled after the Civil War. The explicit threat of force is what prevents states from leaving the union.

I can sure use a flat top AR. That looks like a 16" but I am going to get a 20". Need me a varmit/ squad designated marksmen rifle.
