A Few Thoughts To Ponder...

I started off to post something a little silly and fun, but I decided that with everything that's going on in the world, and especially here at home, maybe instead we should look back at some quote made by some men that saw our present status long ago.

I think that they are worth a second look!

"There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily."
George Washington

"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom to worship here."
Patrick Henry

"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government."
Edward Abbey

"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have... a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean the characters and conduct of their rulers."
John Adams

"A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy.... While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.... If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security."
Samuel Adams

"Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious."
George Orwell - 1984

"Ridicule is the tribute that mediocrity pays to genius."
Anonymous

"All truth goes through three stages. First it is ridiculed. Then it is violently opposed. Finally it is accepted as self-evident."
Schoepenhouer

"Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on."
Winston Churchill

"Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance."
Albert Einstein

Like I said, they deserve a second look! Of course, that's just my opinion, for what it's worth!

Now, my friend, let's get some fresh coffee and sit on the patio for a while. I'm having a double helping today!

Morning mister Jim;

Strong quotes from strong men.

We need them today.

Good morning, Mister Hermit, sir. Ah a breakfast of substance!

I am homeschooling my Evil Genius because, among other things, I believe the governmetn will not teach him to QUESTION, to THINK, to risk failure on the chance of blazing success, and to say "No, this is not right" loud and clear when necessary.

I want him to argue with me about the limits I impose, to use logic, reason, and passion to try and sway me to his viewpoint.

I think it's important to have someone whispering in Caesar's ear "Remember, thou art mortal", to remind our govenment that someone is watching, someone sees, and someone is not afraid to speak out, to act out, to preserve our rights, the rights of future generations.

It's a lonely road, sometimes, but one worth walking.

Trite though it be, it's still true - freedom isn't free...it require vigilance, will, determination, and accepting that freedom to fly means freedom to fall...freedom to succeed means freedom to fail...and freedom is NOT safety, is NOT comfortable.

Whoops...look who found a soapbox in the corner?

I hope your Mum continues well, sir, and is home soon. Thanks for the thought provoking.

Shade and Sweetwater,
K

Ever consider a career in higher education? So far, you're doing better than most of my professors!

Hey Cath...
Thanks for taking the time to come by. Mom is doing very well, thank you, and may get to come home today! It all depends on the white count in her blood.

Again, thanks for coming by...

Hey Tony...
Good to see yo, my man! Hope that you are faring well! Did you get the 'puter all back in shape?

You're right about needing strong men around today, both in the government and the general populace! It is only with a strong core and foundation that great things can be built!

Thanks, Tony, for coming by!

Hey K...
All I can say is "WOW". I am in awe at your comment!

You have said so much truth in such a powerfully worded way, that I was totally blown away! Beautiful!

I have a feeling that the evil genius, having you as a teacher, will do quite well! What an excellent attitude about life!

Thanks for the wonderful comment and for coming by!

Hey Cat...
My wonderful friend! I have been missing you as of late. Are you getting ready for that grand baby?

Thanks for the hugs for Mom, and for the visit today with all the positive energy you bring!

Hey Darius...
Always a pleasure to have you come by and share a bit of time with us!

Good to see you again!

Hey Catman...
Good to see you this morning, buddy! I appreciate the kind words this morning, but I don't think this old country boy would make a good teacher today!

My focus would end up being on things so many young folks find unnecessary, like planting by the signs, fishing with a hand line, setting up a proper camp and striking it, establishing a food storage plan...that sort of thing.

One thing I would try and pass on, is the thirst for knowledge, fed by the love of reading!

Thanks for coming by today, my man!
