We Have All Been There...!

No particular reason for this post, except I like the somg, the singer, and the message!

The first line of the song "I hurt myself today, to see if I could feel" about says it all...

We've all been there in one way or another. At least, I know I have...! But this song takes all the thoughts and emotions and groups them all together very well.

That's all I had today. Don't want to bore anyone by trying to be cute, or funny, or wise, or...you know, BORING!

Let's get some coffee and sit outside for a bit...maybe listen to some more Johnny!

  1. Hi Uncle Hermit,

First off let me start by saying, I happen to love cute, I like funny, I cherish wisdom and you could never bore me.

I would be proud to sit outside with you while enjoying a cup of coffee.

If we tire of listening to Johnny would you mind if I brought along some Merle to throw on?

Have a great day, my friend,
    Hugs~n~Smiles

  2. Hey Felinae...
Glad to see you this morning!

My feline friend, I'm glad you don't find me boring! I'm only here to entertain a bit, I reckon! If I accomplish that, then I'm good!

Heck, yeah! Bring on Merle and Waylon and Willie and everybody! Nothing like a few friends helping to enjoy some fortified coffee...!

Thanks for coming over this morning, girl!

  3. Morning Jim;

Great post. Johnny Cash,Merle,Waylon,Willie, and all the country singers would make one hell of a party. They would go light on the coffee tho.

    Fill mine up.

    See Ya

  4. Morning to yah Jim! I love your cute, funny and wise posts! You make me laugh and that's a very good thing!
Btw: I grew up on country music - real country - when the women had big hair and even bigger dresses! My Dad can pick a mean mandolin too! Jim you should hear him...he's amazing! He'd love to come for coffee and pick a few tunes on the patio. Well, between your post today and Mayberry's Vince Gill post, I'm in the mood to dust off my mandolin and get the callouses started on my fingers again!

Oh and Felinae: you shocked me by knowing who Merle was!!! Atta girl! lol
I think we need to throw in a little Jessi Colter and we'd have something!

See how much more fun your post is than one about collecting rainwater with a used boot??! hahaha Geez I hope no one really did a post like that or now I'll be on their hate list. lol
    Have a grand day, Jim!!

  5. Beautiful, Mister Hermit, sir - Johnny Cash was a tremendously talented musician, and I was sorry when he died.

Your posts are never boring, sir.

Thanks for the terrific music, and a thoughtful start to the day.

    K

  6. Morning HermitJim,
Please never think you're boring. Far from it. Johnny sure could vocalize the hardships & feelings we've all suffered through. A great artist.

  7. Good morning Special One,
Johnny sure could bring the feelings to a song. This one sure did show the way his life had gone and where it was going at that point. Sad, very sad indeed. May he be resting in peace now.

  8. Trent Reznor is one heck of a poet. I loved the song when Nine Inch Nails did it, But Mr Cash brought tears to my eyes. It also shocked me that he would be doing a NIN song. Darn, my record player is broken, all my Cash is on vinyl. Guess I shall be listening to NIN then.

  9. Thanks for the music, Jim. I love that song. Sometimes music can communicate feelings so much better than words can.
Remember one person's opinion is just that. ONE person's OPINION.
You have many loyal fans, and for good reason.

    I can really identify with the following lyrics;
"you can have it all, my empire of dirt...
If I could start again, a million miles away, I could heal myself. I would find a way."

Let's hope we can all heal.

Now how about a fresh cup, my friend?

  10. Hey Tony...
I think you're right! Might have to make a run to the hooch store...

Just a few more days to the auction, right? I hope all that goes well, and you can get on with your plans soon!

Thanks for the visit, my friend!

    Hey Cath...
So you and your dad play the mandolin, hey? You know, I'll bet if we took a poll of everyone that played (or played at) a musical instrument, we would have enough to really jam!

Bring your dad on over to the patio and we'll all listen to a bit of old-time music!

Thnks, Cath, for dropping by today!

    Hey K...
The baker of delightful goodies! You know, if I lived any closer I would weigh about 300 pounds!

Always a pleasure to see you, K...

  11. Hey Jesse...
Yeah, his voice had such a quality to it that let you feel all the emotions he was trying to convey!

It's a shame we are losing so many of our great country music legends!

    Thanks for coming by, buddy!

    Hey JoJo...
I hope that ol' Johnny found peace in his later years!

I'm so glad you could drop by today, sweetness!

    Hey Phelan...
He could touch you with his vocals, for sure! To me, the song is a great example of how somwone can reach out to so many folks...just through the lyrics of a song.

Hey, Phelan, I appreciate you taking the time to come by today!

    Hey Maitreya...
That's a line that is so indicative of how we feel today, I think! It's so true...

Thanks, my friend, for coming by and visiting for a bit today!

  14. Mister Hermit, sir, now you know why I give it all away - I don't want to eat it...I just want to bake it.

  15. I agree with all others that you definitely do not bore. Did bring some tears to my eyes today, though. I think because I have been feeling so alone and helpless (and hopeless) lately. I thought Johnny looked so sad and I like to think that he and his beloved June are together and singing happily again.

  16. Hey Beth...
Sorry you have been feeling down lately. Maybe you should try and come down here for a visit...

I, too, hope that Johnny and June are peaceful and happy where ever they may be

Thanks so much for coming by for a visit...and don't be a stranger!

  18. Hey FCH...
Glad to be of service, my man! I don't know very many people that don't like Johnny Cash!

I have to admit I had not heard this song until just recently...but I like it a lot!

Hey, I appreciate you dropping by today, buddy! You have a good one!
