Hey...It's June !!
I figured that I would go ahead with some general information about June, thanks to the fine folks at the Old Farmer's Almanac.
Lots of history and folk lore connected to the month of June, ya know? Here's what I mean!
It's June and everything's coming up roses, not to mention strawberries! June brings beautiful bouquets, delicious fruits and vegetables, and an urge to get out there and enjoy the sunshine.
June is named after the Roman goddess Juno, patroness of marriage and the well-being of women.
June 14th is Flag Day. Learn about American Flag etiquette.
Don't forget that Father's Day is June 20th. Read about the history of Father's Day.
The Summer Solstice on June 21 heralds the beginning of summer! What is the solstice? Here's a brief explanation.
Since ancient times, June is the time for weddings, feasts, and revelry, especially on Midsummer Day, June 24, when people from Scandinavia to North Africa celebrate the summer solstice. What is Midsummer Day? Find out.
Well, now that's probably more information than you really wanted to know about the month of June! Never let it be said that the Hermit didn't do his best to furnish a little information overload!
Now...supposed to rain today, so let's get some coffee and sit on the patio while we can!
Good Morning My Special One
ReplyDeletethese are fun to read with my coffee this morning. It a little chilly here in the mornning glad for my little electric heater.
Have a great day love.
Get with the times, old man! Obama say's June is GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgendered) Pride month!
ReplyDeleteHehehe....I don't think so. I think maybe we ought to call it GTHA (God fearing Traditional Heterosexual American)- easily remembered as "Get The Heck Away" - Pride month just to get them upset.
Nah, just kidding. I like your version of June just fine!
With June first came the warm weather this year :-) May have been unusually cold.
ReplyDeleteYes soon comes our big pagan celebration in my country, Midsummers eve, even if the church tried to make it a christian celebration. They didn´t stand a chance trying that :-) :-) :-)
Have a great day now!
Christer.
Hey JoJo...
ReplyDeleteI'll save a little of this hot weather for ya! It's supposed to get to record setting highs this coming weekend!
I have to admit that I have a really bad feeling about the storm season this year! I may have to head to high ground myself!
Hey, thanks for the visit, sweetie!
Hey Catman...
what can I say, buddy! Old and behind the times...and living in the past! Pretty much describes me! But I'm thinking that might be better than the future that the prez has in store, ya know?
I do appreciate the visit today!
Hey Christer...
I wasn't sure just when your warm weather starte there! For some reason, I was thinking it was just the reverse of ours here in the states!
Glad you are staying with the traditional holidays...tradition is important!
I appreciate the visit today, my friend!
All I can say is it may be getting hot,but it's better then having to shovel snow. Thanks for another great lesson.
ReplyDeleteHey Mechanic...
ReplyDeleteI can believe that, my friend! I don't really like snow very much...but luckily, living hereon the coast of Texas I haven't had to deal with it very much!
You can have my share, I t5hink!
Thanks for coming by today!
Thanks for the links! just letting you know I still stop by and read.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great memorial day.
WOW learned lots of stuff today while sitting and reading on our front porch...Yes, we have a great one and a wonderful old house (came with the porch) here on the VA eastern shore (the "other" VA). Glad I stopped by and will revisit again. Hope you will drop in to our little place sometime (thefrogandpenguinn) there's always a spare rocker on the porch and iced coffee on a really hot afternoon!
ReplyDeleteHey Beatrice...
ReplyDeleteI sure am glad you could come by today! Always happy to have a new visitor!
I've only been to VA. one time, but I sure do plan to visit again!
Please feel free to drop in again, my friend! Thanks so much for coming by!
Glad I stopped by too and I will drop in again. DO drop by our little place in the blog-sphere (thefrogandpenguinn) where you can visit with myself and Grenville. In the "real" world we go by the names of Dorothy & Pat but then fantasy is much more fun!
ReplyDeleteHope you visit!
Down here in Brazil, its just the opposite. 1st June heralded rain, cold, here it's winter. But also a festive month. Juninho is the festival here, schools, neighbourhoods and stuff. There is a big party planned for the neighbourhood in the park that faces my house. $18 and free beer and eats for 24 hours, that's a good party.
ReplyDeleteCheers
AV
Hey AV...
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like a great party...especially for the price!
I didn't know that this was the start of your Winter! Learn something every day!
thanks for coming by today!
