Now This Is Harsh...!

I think that we are all aware that Mother Nature can be harsh at times, but here is a case where she almost outdoes herself.

The female praying mantis has been known to bite the head off her partner during sex – and the male praying mantis has been known to keep right on mating with her, despite having just been decapitated in a violent sex act. Source

I realize the urge to reproduce is very strong, but after all...it's still pretty harsh!
