All Things Beautiful...!
This beauty, my friends, is the Glasswing Butterfly ! It comes from Central America and is found from Mexico to Panama . It is quite common in its zone, but it not easy to find because of its transparent wings, which is a natural camouflage mechanism.
A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change.
Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red.
All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed: in life that which is unnoticed often has the most power!
Now, what do you say to a fresh cup of coffee...?
How fascinating...and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this creature, friend Jim!
Have a good one,
Cat :}
Hey Cat...thanks for bringing your smile around this morning.
ReplyDeleteThis creature is really beautiful, isn't it? Hard to believe that a living creature this lovely can exist in today's world and that we haven't managed to kill off the species yet.
It should make people stop and think about how beautiful all life is, and how we should protect all of it!

ReplyDeleteHi Jim,
ReplyDeletethis beautiful creature looks like right out of fairy tale land & makes me think of fairies:O). Maybe this butterfly was the inspiration and is the mother of all Fairies.
Nature is amazing and we definitly need to protect it and treat her with respect.
WE HARM HER, WE HARM OURSELFS!
Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day,
Manu.
