Once again, I have managed to screw up.

I posted this photograph below and the story line that came with it before I checked it for accuracy. I was called to task by a reader...and so in keeping with the spirit of being totally honest if I can, here is the story behind the picture as told by Snopes.

Seems like I'm screwing up a lot in the past few days! I apologise about that! Have a good day!

Hey JoJo...
Thanks, Darlin'! I need that! Think I'll go and have a beer...

It's already been one of those days, ya know?

No worries, We've all made our fair share of mistakes. I will tell ya a true story though. I was trucking near Muskogee, OK one night around midnight. Couldn't see a darn thing except the road in front of me it was so dark. Then the wind picked up real quick and the truck was rocking back and forth like I'd never felt before. White knuckled I drove a couple miles more looking for a safe place to park, as I continued, the wind got less and less severe until it was almost gone so I decided to keep going....Wouldn't you know it, I heard on the radio the following morning that a tornado had touched down exactly where I was at about the same time.

Hey Wyn...
Sure makes me feel dumb, yas know? I know better than not to check these things out!

Thanks for the visit, my friend!

It wouldn't have occurred to me to check snopes on that one--and I probably wouldn't have seen it anytime in the near future if you hadn't posted it, so I stand by my thanks for sharing!

Hey AP...
I was stationed at Altus AFB a long time ago, so I know exactly what you mean about how dark it gets!

I imagine that finding outr after the fact is better than seeing it in the rearview catching up...

Thanks for the visit!

Hey Marie...
Thanks for the vote of confidence...

Never my intention to mislead anyone, ya know?

Okay so without the drilling rig, it's still REAL. And, being that I live in 'tornado alley' I'd much prefer to NOT have to see that image outside my house!! Still gives me the shivers seeing it. Pass the beer - I'm hot from weeding the garden. :D

Hey Jim I still admire ya. We have all done it at least once...some of us twice...does that mean 2 beers then?

Maybe Snopes is just another communist plot, have you thought about that? Hahahaha

HermitJim said...

Hey Melissa...
I'm with you...I still don't want to see this bad boy in my neighborhood any time soon!

Cold one is on me today!

Hey Rod...
You know what they say about beer...one's too many, a hundred's not enough! Haven't had a good cold one in a long time, so I think I'm due.

Thanks for coming in today, buddy!

Hey Catman...
Hadn't thought about that! Who do we go to if we want to check out Snopes?

Maybe I'm just paranoid...but that don't mean they're not out to get me!

Thanks for the visit, Catman!

It's still one heck of a photo. Dang Snopes for ruining all the fun and wonder of...erm...(photoshopped) nature!

Shade and Sweetwater,
K (who refers folks to Snopes all the time so they won't be afraid to pump fuel, answer the door, or check their mail)

Hey Kyddryn...
It is a pretty, although deadly picture...

Hey, sounds like my ex!

Thanks for taking the time to drop in, Lady!

Somebody's always gotta go and ruin the fun..... Dang you Photoshop!!!!!!

HermitJim said...

Hey Mayberry...
Yeah, just when I thought I had something good, I was proven to be the bad guy again!

Some days are like that, I guess!

It was an honest mistake Jim. It's still a hell of a picture. I even stole a copy myself, but don't tell anyone.

HermitJim said...

Hey Felinae...
Thanks for the most kind words, Lady! I am always glad to have you drop in!

Hey Hermit...
I won't tell a soul. The picture is pretty, even without the rig...

I still want to be inside during one of these storms!

Thanks for the visit, my man!

You know, that figures...also explains why it seemed sort of familiar...kinda reminds me of the game we used to play in school...you know where you'd whisper something to the person next to you and so on and then see how it comes out from the last person....remember that?
No biggie, Jim....you're quite forgiven...

HermitJim said...

Hey Carol...
I think we used to call that game "Telegraph" although I don't know why!

THanks for forgiving me, and I promise to TRY and do better!!

Carol Ayers said...

Telegraph..right...interesting ..now that kinda tells us where the game originated or how old the game is...slurp...

HermitJim said...

Hey Carol...
I always liked the game "Pony Express" myself! It was kinda like "post office" only with a little more "horsing around!"

Sorry, couldn't help myself...!!

LOL!...well..we're gonna get to the bottom of this..slurp
