Man, I Need Some Ice Cream...!

I really like ice cream. Almost as much as coffee...!

I'm not alone in this addiction as I'm sure that these little known facts will show.

Each American consumes a yearly average of 23.2 quarts of ice cream, ice milk, sherbet, ices and other commercially produced frozen dairy products

In 1935, President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933-1945), 32nd President of the United States, publicly confessed that he liked to have ice cream at least once a day.

Immigrants arriving at Ellis Island in the 1920s were given food considered "typical" American. But many of them tried to spread this "frozen butter" on bread when given ice cream.

During World War I (1914-1918), ice cream played a role as a propaganda tool and morale builder. A German officer, when asked about America's involvement in the war, said that "We do not fear that nation of ice cream eaters." After his comment was printed in American newspapers, it created a lot of response about the frozen treat.

Ingrid Bergman (1915-1982), already an established movie star in Europe, came to New York in 1939 when she was twenty-four. She loved hot fudge sundaes so much that she alarmed her American hosts.

The biggest ice cream sundae ever made was 12 feet high and made with 4,667 gallons of ice cream and 7,000 pounds of toppings in Anaheim, California during 1985.

During World War II, the Eight Air Force unit chose the Popsicle as a symbol of American life.

Now, my friends, let's get some coffee and sit outside. Oh, and ice cream and coffee DO go good together! Believe me, I know...!

Good Morning My Special One,
Did you say Ice Cream! OH my bring it on. I love the stuff the only one I will not eat is strawberry or the one with the 3 flavors which include strawberry. I also love sherbet. I can't even keep ice cream in the house. It is only bouught as a very special treat of course in the summer that can be a weekly purchase. And yes a nice bit of it in coffee is great as well.
I am ready to sit on the patio before a busy day starts today.I will stop and bring the ice cream. What flavor shall I bring? dont say strawberry you won't get it. lol

I didn't know how much my family loved ice cream until Ike. Sometimes you just don't know how important the little things are until you lose them.

Hey JoJo...
That's alright if you don't like the strawberry...there are so many other flavors I'm sure we can find one you like!

I think the plain old vanilla and chocolate are the est, but that's just me!

A bowl of ice cream for breakfast with a cup of coffee...sounds like a winner!

Hey, sweetie, thanks for coming by!

Hey Momlady...
I remember that little ditty! We used to say it a LOT!

Glad you liked the post, and I appreciate you dropping by today!

Hey Kris...
Boy, I know THAT'S right! Sort of brings things into perspective a bit for the Preppers, doesn't it?

Freeze dried ice cream just isn't as good as the kind that melts!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey China...
NOW your talking! Hard to beat that combination for sure! Sometimes the old stand-bys are just hard to beat!

I really do appreciate you coming by today!

I have a handful of core beliefs. Among them is that coffee and ice cream is breakfast perfection.

I remember that when I was expecting each of my three daughters, I craved two things only: 1) tomatoes in any form - sliced with a dash of salt or dipped in corn meal batter and fried; and 2) ice cream with Sugar Frosted Flakes on top (you know, Tony the Tiger cereal). I bought a used ice cream maker last summer at a garage sale and we had homemade ice cream all summer long.

I hope your Mom is doing well. I haven't had a chance to check in lately. I hope you are well, too.

Hey Christer...
Here in the states, folks et almost as much ice cream in the Winter as in the Summer! I know that I do!

Haven't tried the two flavors you mentioned, but I'll have to see if I can find them and try some.

Thanks for the visit!

Hey Ginger...
See, I knew there was another reason I loved ya...anyone that loves ice cream and coffee for breakfast is my kind of friend!

Mom is good, thanks...and I'm ok as well! Just tired of the big city, but that's another story!

Good to see you again...and thanks for coming by!

Never had coffee and ice cream. We like ice cream also. Ben and Jerry's Phish Food is my favorite followed by Tillamook Chocolate and Peanut Butter.

I love ice cream too but it's too cold now....that is unless you have a cup of coffee to go with it!

Hey TOR...
Coffee to wash down the ice cream is good! I don't want to mix them, but accompanying each other...that's pretty good!

Peanut butter with anything is a good pairing also!

Thanks for coming by!

Hey Mamma Bear...
Come on down! We got the coffee AND the ice cream...tried to cover all the bases!

Hey, thanks for coming by, Momma!
