Have We Grown This Stupid...?

I found a list of warning labels on some of the products we use every day, and I have to say I'm concerned.

If we have to have some of these things on labels, maybe we should get some professional help, ya know? Who comes up with this sort of thing? Oh, I forgot! The FDA is in charge of protecting us from ourselves...sorry!

I'm thinking that a little common sense might go a long way, but I may be wrong. What do you think?

How about coffee in the kitchen this morning? It's warmer than the patio.

The most ignored warning is a package of Q-tips.

The sad thing about all those warnings is that they are there because it was a problem.

They can't fix stupid!

Love the one on my hand soap....
"For external use only - Keep out of reach of children". How are they supposed to wash their hands????
Oh, and thanks for the good cartoon yesterday!
Coffee inside today. It's only 24 here! I'll bring the chocolate cake.

The best one yet.."CAUTION: HOT" Do you remember the lady who spilled her HOT coffee and sued Mickey D's?? They had to put a warning label at the drive thru window stating that Coffee and Cocoa were HOT.

Sometimes you have to think about why we have warning labels..
"CAUTION: LIBERALS AHEAD."

Coffee indoors here rain on the way

My Dad and I often talk about people not having common sense. I think we've legislated it right out of everyday life. Years ago, a friend gave me some plants from a nursery she worked at. They were bare-root and the roots were in a plastic bag, which had a label on it stating....'remove bag before planting'. I laughed for days.

Unfortunately there are so many stupid people out there that the warnings are necessary. Check out the side of a ladder next time you are in the hardware store. And did you know that you shouldn't use a hair dryer while in the bathtub? As Sixbears said, you can't fix stupid.

Ben in Texas said...

Yep, MomLady and SixBears already said it. Can't fix Stupid.

The sad part is someone must have attempted those uses and a lawsuit settlement required those warnings.

Common sense is a rare commodity.

If they have to put a stupid warning on something, did something stupid happen to warrant such a warning?

Shame on you Jim!
No warning this was humor.
Almost spit my whole cup of tea on the key board. And hot tea went everywhere. Worth it though, and no one was hurt, no damage done.
Warning, do not drink anything while reading Hermits blog.

It is funny though, Love the one not to use the toilet plunger around power lines.

Great Post, yes its amazing some of the warnings. I read them just to laugh.

I posted a recipe you might like for watching the waste line

Hey Sixbears...
It's a shame that warnings like this are even necessary, but even more frightening that no matter what you put on the bottle, most never read them anyway!

Right you are about not being fixable!

Thanks, my friend, for coming by today!

Hey Phyllis...
Always more than happy to share what I find!

Some of thee don't make too much sense to me, that's for sure!

I really appreciate you coming by today!

Hey Rob...
Getting to the point that it makes you wonder about how some folks manage to get through the day!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Sharon...
It does make you wonder, that's for sure! Scary part is, somebody may have actually tried to plant it plastic and all!

Hey, thanks for the visit this morning!

Hey Momlady...
We all laugh, but it's sad to think that folks need these labels. Sadder yet, they do mate and reproduce!

Thanks, Linda, for coming by today!

Hey Ben...
It's crazy...just crazy! We all have seen the type that need those warnings, and I think that I may be related to some of them!

Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!

Hey Dizzy...
You certainly got that right, buddy! Getting more rare by the day!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey John...
Probably in most cases, it happened!

That's a troubling thought, isn't it?

Thanks for coming by this morning!

Hey Annie...
Sorry about that! Guess I need my own warning label, huh?

Hope that won't keep you from coming by again! Thanks!!

Hey JoJo...
That one didn't seem to get here, sweetie! Sorry I missed it,though!

Thanks for coming by for a cup today!

Warning everyone of these dangers(?) does not teach people to reason for themselves by suffering from the consequences of their actions, only that litigation is the answer for their stupidity. These types of cases should be laughed out of court! (hot coffee on thunder thighs)

Snowing this morning, so coffee at the computer

HermitJim said...

Hey Scout...
That's one of the reasons our court system is so clogged up! Way too much trash are allowed to get there!

Sure do appreciate you coming by today!

People unfortunately have done those things (like tried to use a dremel as a dental drill), so the companies and FDA have had to post those to keep themselves safe from lawsuits. Our world is becoming stupider. Thanks for making me laugh.

One of my favorites is from a toilet brush: Do not use for personal hygiene.

Go figure.

Great list! Good for a laugh this morning.

You need to post a warning on your blog that "reading this blog may become addictive" or "reading this blog may cause you to learn something", or both.

HermitJim said...

Hey Ruth...
It is definitely scary at times!

It's always my pleasure to make someone grin a little!

Thanks for dropping by today!

Hey Ted...
Both make good sense to me! I couldn't agree more!

Thanks for coming by today. It's been a while!

Hey Judy...
I can't even imagine having to tell someone that! We may be in more trouble than I thought!

Thanks so much for coming by today!

It's the same litigation/regulation controlled mentality that makes us have to keep a Material Safety Data Sheet on file at work for... sand. Yep, plain ol' swimmin' pool filter sand, just like the stuff you find on the beach. I never read it, but I bet it says somewhere in there "do not ingest"...

You forgot the one on sleeping pills>>>>"Caution may cause drowsiness".

"Stupid is as stupid does" I always say. Common sense is a thing of the past. When I used to work for the Oster Corporation, we had to post a warning label on the blender telling people not to put their hand over the spinning blade .. Yup, some stupid woman, put her hand over the spinning blade after her "mini jar" spun off because she didn't tighten the jar before she turned the blender on. DUH!!!!! Good blog, Jim.

The damned mouth-breathing do-gooders who think it's their lifes mission to protect the stupid from themselves are what has screwed up this once fine country. They are interfering with the laws of natural selection. By protecting the stupid from themselves, they are allowed to survive long enough to breed and are driving the collective intelligence through the floor.

Next thing ya know, they'll want to prohibit the sale of explosives to rednecks!

HermitJim said...

Hey Dizzy...
I don't know about the warnings. I'm thinking that the surprise might be more fun!

I really appreciate you dropping by today!

Hey Craig...
I think what worries me the most, is the fact that someone might have actually tried to eat the sand in the past!

Wonder if maybe we might have gone too far in our "human experiments".

Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!

Hey Bob...
See? That's the kind of thing that worries me! If folks need to be told this...there is no hope! For them, at least!

Thanks for coming over today!

Hey Linda...
Some folks are so far beyond help, it ain't funny!

Worse yet, she probably drives!

Thanks for coming by today!

HermitJim said...

Hey Paul...
You know how it is...some people can't be satisfied unless they are controlling others!

Of course, we all know that the same rules don't apply to them, right?

Thanks for coming over today!
