Lincoln Had It Right...!

Like him or not, it seems like ol' Abe hit the nail on the head with his concerns on this!

Amazing how forward thinking some of the old timers were, isn't it?

"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war." -

President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864 in a letter to Colonel William F.
Elkins

Seems like a lot of our past leaders could sense the corruption that has befallen our country today. I can only wonder what keeps us from seeing the same thing?

Coffee in the kitchen today! Alex is still messin' with the weather!

Morning HJ...if only those past leaders could return and impart some of their wisdom (in hindsight?) then perhaps things might be a little different. What do you think?

Weather here is sunny and cool - MUCH coller than at the start of the week with 60s overnight and 80s today - WOW. Sadly, no rain in sight, but a nice holiday weekend is forecast. Enjoy yours too.

Good Morning My Special One
Lincoln was a smart man, And yes to bad we can't find anyone who can even come close to our past leaders.
I have been wondering how you are fairing the storm.
I guess we are into the monsoons here. Had a big rain yesterday, everything was drenched.

Hey Beatrice...
We could certainly use a little wisdom to be shared with our leaders from someone, that's for sure!

Weather here turned a little cooler yesterday, because of the stoem in the Gulf I guess!

Plenty of rain to share as of the past couple of days!

Hey, thanks for coming by today!

Hey JoJo...
At least with all the rain, you won't probably have to worry about a fire getting started by the fireworks!

The main part of the storm is staying far enough south in the Gulf that all we are getting here is a lotof wind and rain! Nothing bad enough to cause any damage!

Maybe we have once more dodged the bullet, as far as bad stuff goes! I hope so!

You have a great day, sweetie, and thanks for coming by !

Excuse no comment on today's post..yet. There is a very inappropriate comment back at one of March's posts. I think to make a blog interesting and informative, comments should stay to subject..this one is NOT. Just a friendly 'heads up', Jim.

Hey Anon 11:03...
Tanks for the "heads up". I try and not moderate any comments, but on occasion I do remove on that is full of spam and such.

I'll see what I can find and deal with it...thank you!

...i've often argued to the fact that corporate/gov't corruption began with the War Of Northern Aggression...even tho (dis)honest abe was a tyrant,in retrospect i can say he had his moments,he wasn't all bad, just misinformed......

Hey Ken...
Seems like the habit of listening to bad information is still in practice today!

It's going to be interesting to see just how our more recent presidents fare in future history telling!

Not too well, I'm thinking.

Thanks for coming by today, buddy!

The comment could have been made yesterday (or today). Note the date that it was delivered. For those that don't know, Nov. 21st is the Hermit's B.D.
Where is Beatrice P. Boyd? Sounds as if she was giving our weather forecast.
This is off the subject...is it an inappropiate comment? If so, I apologize.
Love ya.

Beatrice is from the eastern shore...Virginia, I think!

Click on her blog at "The Frog and The PenguINN" on the blog roll and read up on their place! Pretty nice!

Not off topic for family...so all is OK!

GREED! That in itself is truly a killer! It kills anyone and anything that crosses it's path.
I have to admit my hope for this country grows dimmer as time goes by! Sad eh?

HermitJim said...

Hey Diane-Sage...
I hate to say it, but I believe you are right! Gre3d does seem to play a great big part in our government now days!

It's a shame, but a part of how they do business!

Thanks for coming by today!

We today have in this country the same Quality of persons as Lincoln. They are here in numbers. What we need is people that can reason for themselves an use their own power of reasoning to make good judgment in voting these persons in to office .This country is more divided today than anytime in my 76 yrs here
All I can say is what a shame. How many of you watch a station on the TV that uses fear ,frustration, hate, doom an gloom, another type of tabloid journalism to convey and manufacture news.We as Americans do not need that type of Journalism.

Hey Mayberry...
It's a shame that we don't do something to rid ourselves of these parasites. Evidently they have been a problem for a long, long time!

Thanks, buddy, for coming by today!

Hey Ted...
If we don't find some decent folks to place in office, then we will just be subjected to more and more of this!

The media is becoming more of a tool of the PTB than ever before!

Thanks for coming by today!
