The Morning Workout...!

You know, sometimes when I get up in the mornings...it's like running an obstacle course!

First of all, if the roomies stayed in at night, I feel like there is a crowd in my bed. As long as they are still I really don't mind, but if they toss and turn, then I almost feel as though I don't have room to even turn back the covers! Kinda like this!

Even if they haven't slept on the bed, they have a tendency to be in the way on the floor. It's like trying to roller skate in a buffalo herd, ya know? I mean, I know there's only two of them...but like kids, sometimes it seems like a lot more! Some of you know what I mean, I'm sure!

Now, after I fight my way out from under the covers, after I run the gauntlet of the kitties on the floor...usually managing to trip and stumble across the room to the coffee pot without hurting myself or the cats, I usually have a few not so nice things to mumble to myself about the wisdom of having cats as pets!

But by the time I reach for my coffee cup, I start to see things in a different light. I realize that the roomies are just doing what comes natural! They really do like me and want me to be happy early in the morning, and if they could, they would help me get my first cup of the day!

Finally, after getting my first cup and getting morning hugs from the roomies, I'm finally ready to face the day! It just goes to show that a good cup of coffee, a heartfelt hug from a pet, and a smile caused by the look of love in their eyes can brighten your day considerably!

I guess that sometimes even a pet, or a couple of pets, can be a reminder that we need to take time to stop and smell the roses every day!

Now, my friend, let's get some coffee and sit outside for a bit. Maybe the roomies will stop in and give you a hug as well!

Ah, Mister Hermit, sir...there's the trouble - you seem to think your keeping cats as pets...when, in truth, they are keeping YOU for a pet!

It often takes more than one cat to keep a human pet - we're so high maintenance!

I have three keepers, myself, and judging by the time they spend napping or sprawled boneless in the sun, I am a most difficult critter to look after!

Nuts...meant "you're", not "your"...sigh...see what lack of sleep and being distracted gets a body?? I even proofed the comment before posting! Sorry 'bout that.

Hiya Uncle Hermit,

Gee, have you been to my house?

Seeing as how I share it with 9 evil felines. I know exactly that of which you speak.

Gotta love them though, when they let you, haha! They are like kids each one with their individual personalities, quirks, likes and dislikes. It is never a dull moment, that's for sure.

I hope you have a wonderful day and give those 2 roomies of yours some extra hugs from me.

Hugs~Felinae~

Hey K...
That's exactly why I just call them "roomies" most of the time! We all know that cats merely allow us to share their quarters...quarters that become theirs immediately after they show up!

Not a problem with the grammer...what matters is the message!

Thanks so much for your visit, my friend...!

Hey Felinae...
How right you are about the individual personalities of our feline friends!

Like people, it's the differences that make things so much fun, don't you think?

Thanks so much for coming by!

I can't imagine a life without a pet. Like your rommies my dog can be under foot and sometimes it is annoying. It's the times when he greets me like I am the most fantastic person in the world that I realize I would miss him. Animals really do enrich our lives.

Hey Vlad...
It's amazing that they can concentrate all their weight into those 4 little paws! Makes it seem like it multiplies their weight more than ever!

Some cats seem to have a gentler walk than others, I think!

Hey, thanks for coming by today...!

Hey JoJo...
That's a load of cats, isn't it? You're right about the look on the face of that middle one, for sure...! You and that kitty would get along great, as I have a feeling you would be a perfect match for each other!

I am so glad to see you this morning, my lovely friend! Thanks for stopping by...!

Hey Rae...
An animal can add so much to our daily existence that I can't imagine NOT having one! They do indeed enrich our lives!

Thank you so much for coming by today!

I got one cat, 5 months old, it5 is amazing how he can be in so many places at once; especially if I am pre-Coffee in the mornings.

But I couldn't imagine life without a pet.

I have link that coffee post on NR II

it's great.

I meant to add, that the only time Meow Meow and i fall out, is when i need "our" bed to sleep in.

And philosphical thought:
"Dogs have masters - Cats have staff"

Hey AV...
It is amazing indeed how one or two cats can be in so many places at once!

Like yourself, I cannot imagine having no animals around! They add so much to our existence!

They also become very good friends and listeners!

Thanks so much for the visit today!

Morning HJ,
Great post. We have 4 co-owners of our homestead and one security guard. The co-owners allow us to feed, water and groom them when they deem it proper. Two of the co-owners prefer the outdoors while the other two prefer the indoors. So, yes, I can empathize.

Hey Blondie...
My favorite Colorado Cupcake! How good to see you here this morning!

Have your cats brought in any more snakes lately? Certainly hope not...

Proud to have you share a cup or three with me this morning, then we can smell all the flowers together...if the roomies haven't sprayed them!

Hey, thanks for the visit!

Hey YOF...
You can still count them so you don't have to many! They do chose when they want to eat and be petted, don't they?

I swear that they can tell time! My mother's cat is used to being fed a treat at about 5:00, and when it's close to that time, AMY (the cat) will be glad to show you where the food is kept and remind you it's time to open some up!

I appreciate the visit this morning, buddy!

Recently, in large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said:
¨THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE?
A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.
To Whom It May Concern:
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans).. They have an active sex life, they get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Barren Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.
Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them not to mention how could they have sex?
Just look at them.....where is IT ? Therefore, they don’t have kids either.. Not to mention who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish market?
The choice is perfectly clear to me; I want to be a whale.
P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver and a piece of chocolate with my friends. With time we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room it distributes out to the rest of our bodies.
So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.
Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, ¨Good grief, look how smart I am…¨

Hey Vlad...
I think the lady about said it all with her reply to the ad...and did it quite well!

Thanks for sharing that with us!

hahahahaha I told you to get them 'fixed' a long time ago!
Seriously, sometimes it helps.
(giggle)

HermitJim said...

Hey Blondie...
Yeah, you did! But when I told the roomies about it, they warned me that I had better start sleeping with one eye opened if i carried through with those plans!

I decided NOT to go through with it!

Hi Jim,

Aww those pictures are great. Almost makes me want a kitty again. I probably would if we have a bigger place where the dogs can hide :)

Your last comment made me laugh! We just had to do that to my little dog. Poor guy.

Thanks for the smiles.

I would like to let you know that the image is copyrighted. I have seen it on the web a lot and most people comply.
