They Finally Admit It's True...!

I have heard this expression for years...even used it a number of times myself, as I'm sure many of you have!

What expression? The expression "They're just blowing smoke up your butt!" This is usually used now days in referring to the government or to politicians, as they try and convince us that what they are doing is really for our own good or that it actually has some merit!

Well, the City of Houston has not only admited that they are guilty of doing this...but was kind enough to send out a warning to us that they were going to do it again!

Not only do they warn us about the action itself, they even gave us the dates! To verify that they will actually be doing this, they are even furnishing a photographer to take pictures if necessary! And the best thing...they didn't even waste postage sending this notification in the mail, but hand delivered the notice to each and every house in my neighborhood, just so folks would not think we were crazy when telling our friends and neighbors about it!

Now, I've said some pretty harse things about the City of Houston in the past, but I don't really know how to react about this one! I mean, on the one hand it's good that they are letting folks know that they are planning this...but on the other hand, I have to wonder if, given all the technology we have at our disposal in this day and age, if this is really the most advanced process they could come up with!

Friends...I will admit to having a fairly active imagination, but I don't think I could make this stuff up if I tried! Click on the image and read it for yourself...

Now let me clear something up, just in case you might be wondering about it. If you notice, the image is not straight. The edges are lined up properly in my scanner, the paper is the same size at both ends, it's just that the text is not completely straight but is just a little crooked.

Isn't that just like the government (local or otherwise)... their documents, like so many of their actions, are not completely straight but just a little crooked !

Now, my friends, let's get some coffee and sit outside for a bit...while we wait for the smoke to clear!

Oh, ah...wow...

Mister Hermit, sir...that's frame worthy - government asking access to your back yard so they may blow smoke up your...ahem...

Speaking of smoke clearing - my house still has a lingering odor...but the air is breathable, anyway. Cough. Sorry, no baked goods for a while...but I have some lovely fresh berries and a store-bought pound cake...

Shade and Sweetwater,

Jeezy Peazzy . . .

So what they are saying is that not to interfere with the people who are coming onto YOUR PROPERTY to take photographs of your private property and that you are completely powerless to stop them?

Welcome to serfdom - Thank You Sir - May I Please Have Another? Sounds like a great way to forego search warrants and use this as an excuse to do some free snooping. Like maybe specially trained sniffer dogs are needed to detect this smoke . . .

Dude, thats just nuts! My condolences. Smoke tests are often done on building plumbing systems under construction (plugging up fixtures and vents to detect the leaks as described), but this is a warrantless search as far as I'm concerned.

I have always heard the term "your government dollars in action" Oh so now I see what those dollars do. Just as I expected. Blowing smoke...

Hermit Jim,
My blood pressure is up this morning after reading this. I get so mad at this stuff. Do you remember when city was going to give Ike repair money to low income people so they could pay off consumer debt which would enhance credit scores..just so they would qualify for mortgages they really couldn't afford?

They were doing this after the mortgage collapse and when we still had a ton of blue roofs all over Houston. I was so mad... I went to city hall and told all the council members and Mayor what I thought. The news showed up. He's a link with channel 2 video: http://houstonmom.wordpress.com/?s=enhancement. I thought there would be a huge protest.

I was the only citizen who showed up at the meeting. Most people are so busy working and paying taxes, it is hard to spend a whole day on this stuff. I am fed up with stupid government.

Rant over. Now, back to my coffee. Have a good day.

Hey Ken...
It's pretty amazing, for sure! Just goes to show that not all of us are as crazy as folks think we are!

If we don't watch out, this kind of thing will just become more and more common place!

Thanks for coming by, Buddy!

Hey Anon 6:23...
Can you imagine trying to do this on a city-wide level? One house is one thing, but a block or street at a time...??

Maybe I just don't get it, but it sure seems like a waste of time to me!

Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Rae...
It's really pretty wild, isn't it? I just don't understand what these people are thinking, doing something like this on a large scale!

Thanks for the visit, Rae!

Hey Kris...
Sorry that you were there alone...but at least you were more aware that I.

I just can't believe that the local or state government would try and pass this, but it seems like they can get away with it because no one is paying attention!

Thank you for going and speaking up for us that were too ignorant to go!

You have a wonderful day, my feisty friend! Thanks for coming by!

Thanks so much. The lady on chan 2 interviewed me, but her questions were argumentative. She was for the program and I did not back down. So of course they didn't air the interview. Fox interviewed me and this reporter seemed to be less liberal... http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/news/090224_taxes_credit_debts

I am amazed that this would have even been considered - it shows how messed up our gov't has gotten. I hope the tide turns - we're in trouble.

Hermit Jim, you're right on about the smoke.

Hey Kris...
As long as we don't let down our guard, things like this will never make it into law!

Ever aware...that should be our constant state of mind!

I'm so ready to get out of here, I could spit!

I remember back when I was younger, they were going to try this after Carla. A lot of folks waited till they started & then started burning wet wood in their back yards. Just little fires with leaves and wet wood. Screwed em up something bad. They dropped it after a couple of days.

Hey Jesse...
That had to be a mess for them to deal with! Seems like a dumb idea to me altogether!

I would have never thought of that, I'll admit! Pretty good!

Thanks for the visit, buddy!
