An Exercise In Freedom...!


Happy Birthday, America!

I wanted you all to read this little excerpt from the Constitution, if for no other reason than to remind us all what this day is all about.

It also points out our responsibility in dealing with the government...and that is a very large responsibility that should not be taken lightly!

What we are talking about here, folks, is our very freedom itself! I think we should pay close attention!

Text from The Declaration of Independence

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.


We need to continue to read and teach these words...and be ever vigilant. Maybe even more so now than ever before!

Now, my friends, let's get some fresh coffee and sit outside on the patio for a bit. We can toast to our great country on this very special day!

Sadly those words have been forgotten by all but a tiny percentage of Americans. Something like III% ; )

Seems to me a few folks have forgotten that bit.

I wonder what will happen when enough of us no longer consent??

To be a little shameless...I have the full Declaration posted over at my place today (as it is every year on this date), if you're interested in reading the whole.

I hope you and your readers have a wonderful Independence Day, Mister Hermit, sir - we'll be hanging out at a pool with good friends, good food, and more than a little political mayhem...er...conversation.

We will institute a new government come Nov if there's anything left by then. If not I'm also sure the III's will have something to say about it. That will help my pursuit of happiness. Thanks for another great lesson and have a great 4th.

Have a great 4th. Will you be able to see the fireworks from your home? Neighbors here put off way too many, and one of my small dogs is extremely scared of them.

As I posted on Ben's site, "Pray for our freedom, it seems to be slipping away very quickly."

Hey Bubba, Happy 4th to ya. I expect some folks to drop by tonight as one can see the city's fireworks display from my drive (most of it anyway).
I feel sorry for Mom on nights like this. I know she believes in the Declaration just not the Bang Bangs.
My grandson's 22nd b.d. today!

Happy 4th of July my friend, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!
Did you know that in addition to the USA turning 234, the 50-star American flag is officially 50 YEARS OLD today!
(Law directs that a newly-designed U. S. flag becomes official on the first July 4th observance following the admission of a new state, and Hawaii was admitted as the 50th state on Aug. 21, 1959!)
(and I'm old enough to remember it too...lol!)
