Yep, I've Got It For Sure...!

Sometimes you come down with something age-related and there is just no denying it!

I'm afraid that this is the case for me! Guess I always knew something like this would happen! Let me explain!

AAADD (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder)

I just wanted to let you know that I have recently been diagnosed with this condition. The scientific world is frantically searching for a cure. This is an ailment many of us suffer from and may not as yet have been diagnosed.

However, now you may be able to discuss it with your loved ones and explain what really happened to you all those times you worked so hard to accomplish something and didn't. I call it the 'But First Syndrome'.

You know, it's when I decide to do the laundry. I start down the hall and notice the newspaper on the table. OK, I'm going to do the laundry.....BUT FIRST I'm going to read the newspaper. After that, I notice the mail on the table. OK, I'll just put the newspaper in the recycle stack.....BUT FIRST I'll look through that pile of mail and see if there are any bills to be paid. Yes, now where's the checkbook? Oops...there's the empty glass from yesterday on the coffee table. I'm going to look for that check book. BUT FIRST I need to put the glass in the sink. I head for the kitchen, look out the window, notice my poor flowers need a drink of water. I put the glass in the sink, and there's the remote for the TV on the kitchen counter. What's it doing here? I'll just put it away......BUT FIRST I need to water those plants. Head for the door and.....Aaaagh! Stepped on the cat. Cat needs to be fed. Okay, I'll put that remote away and water the plants....BUT FIRST I need to feed the cat.

END of Day: Laundry is not done, newspapers are still on the floor, glass is still in the sink, bills are not paid, checkbook is still lost and the cat ate the remote control.... And, when I try to figure out how come nothing got done all day, I'm baffled because.......I KNOW I WAS BUSY ALL DAY!

I realize this condition is serious....... I'd get help........ BUT FIRST..... I think.....I'll check my e-mail!!

What say we get some fresh coffee and sit in the kitchen? BUT FIRST...aw, never mind!

Sounds like my day at work.

Hey Catman...
I can remember having days like that at work before I retired.

Now that I don't have to work, I have to work even harder to get things done just because of this sort of behavior! A viscous cycle, ya know?

Thanks for coming by today, buddy!

Good Morning My Special One,
this is age related??? I have been doing this for years already. But you over looked the fact that you did at least get the glass to the sink. :D
Should roll out of here in about 4 hrs. Now nothing will be BUT FIRST for me on this one.

Sure is nice to know I am not the only person who has this disease. So how do we cure it or do we just use it as an excuse? LOL!!!

"But First" will be the epitaph on my tombstone. Hope you never reach the point of no return with the "but first" syndrome as I have. Every day I plan to do better, but first let me get a fresh cup of coffee while I ponder this plan awhile. Oh, it feels so nice to not be alone with my "butfirst" disease. Hermit, you got a fresh rolls to have with this java? You funny man!

Finally an explanation to my unproductive behavior the past few years. And here I've been trying to blame it on some kind of universal time change thingy cuz there's never enough hours in a day anymore :D

I blame it on CNN,MSNBC,newspapers, and all the other liberal networks. They're rotting our brains with mental telepathy. You know what's the first to go, or is the second? Thanks for the neat info and have a great day.

Hey JoJo...
I'm glad you are finally getting out and about!

I think a little trip will do you good!

Looking forward to having you show some pictures!

Thanks, sweetie, for coming by today!

Hey Linda...
Don't know about you, but I'm thinking this is way too good to cure, as I can use it for an excuse for a long time yet!

Nice to have something to fall back on, right?

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Sissy...
Seems to be a growing number of us that finally realize we have this! Sort of creeps up on all of us, I reckon!

My friend, I sure do appreciate you coming by today!

Hey Dizzy...
And I was going to post a really good answer to your comment...but first...!

You have a great day and thanks for coming by this morning!

Hey Ben...
The membership seems to be growing daily, doesn't it?

Thanks, buddy, for the visit!

Hey Ezrablu...
Certainly can be used to explain a lot of things!

Not too bad, once you get used to it!

Many thanks for coming by today!

Hey Mechanic...
Watching all that stuff will sure make you crazy, that's for sure!

Thanks for coming by, my friend!

Thor says he doesn't want to meet the cat who can eat a remove!

I was laughing at myself cooking 5 things from 2 cookbooks and some from memory all at once the other night, stopping in the middle of one to attend to another, and commented that I looked like I had a severe case of ADD!

I think it is way more common to have,(but first), then not. Maybe they should start studying those that don't first.
Maybe that was why being in the military was so unclomplicated, always someone around to tell you what to do next, I guess only the higher ranks had it in there.

HermitJim said...

Hey Marjie...
Doing all that seems to be fairly organized to me! I have a hard enough time trying to remember what I was doing...even when doing just one thing at a time!

Never a dull moment when you get to be my age! Like a treasure hunt all the time!

You stay warm, my friend! Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Bob...
Reckon that's why they had so many folks in the military? Enough to handle all the "but first" things that popped up?

I sure appreciate the visit today, my friend!

Thank you for clearing up and giving me a name for my illness, but for you it would have remained a mystery and become a cold case.

Since there seems to be quite a large amount of folks suffering from the same condition guess I too will live through it. I went from the round-to-it stage to the but first stage did you notice the same stages of the condition?

Boy o boy glad I'm not in this alone it's sure good to have company at a time like this.

Hope your coffee is good and you have a great day.
