A Different Look At Rednecks...!

My baby sis passed this on to me, and I thought it was good enough to pass on to you!

If you have already seen it, I apologize! However, I think it might be worthy of another read...

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family, country and God.

If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up. Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit...that's what rednecks are made of. I hope I am one of those. If you feel the same, pass this on to your redneck friends. Ya'll know who ya’ll are.

You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God.'

You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a redneck if: You still say 'Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'

You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays.

You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have.

You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to.

You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.

You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

The reason I chose to share this, is because I believe that you, like me, have just enough Red Neck in you to have the same beliefs as those talked about here!

God Bless the USA !

Keep the home fires burning, my redneck friend.

Now, how about we get some fresh coffee and sit outside for a bit, OK?

Good ol' fashioned American values. Doesn't ring true with the Hollyweird worshiping 'Hate America' crowd - sounds good to me though.

Coffee was great today HermitJim - you have a fine day.

Hey Ken...
That's a pretty good description of so many of us, buddy! Glad to be a part of the same crowd!

Thanks for the visit this morning!

Good morning my Special One,
Great post, and I guess I am a redneck too.
Lets sit out on the patio and enjoy our coffee and how about some Lorna Doone cookies.

As usual HJ.
Excellent post.
Sums me up to a tee.
Thanks

HermitJim said...

Hey Western Mass...
I think it sums up a lot of us, and maybe we just never thought of ourselves as rednecks...

I kinda thought these attributes just described a "True American", you know?

Hey, I appreciate the visit this morning...!

Good day, Mister Hermit, sir! I live in redneck central...and, despite being pagan, I can put a check mark next to many of the items listed in your post. I don't see these attributes as redneck, though - reverent, respectful, considerate, yes, but not exclusive to one particular group of folks.

I still tear up when I sing the National Anthem.

Hey, did you know the term "redneck" came from the beginnings of the coal-miner's union? Because the men who wanted to unionize wore red kerchiefs around their necks? I saw it on the History Channel, so it must be true!

Shade and Sweetwater,
K

Hey Kyddryn...
I saw the same program on the History channel...and it was indeed a good one!

What I get from this article is that these things are seen in a lot of the country folks, cowboys, farmers, and rednecks...anyone who often has an image painted of them as though they were somehow excluded from anything but being "hillbillies"...which is another term used wrongly!

As I answered in another comment, I think these attributes are indicitive of all good Americans!

Thanks so much for coming by7 today, Lady K...

HermitJim, as always, you hit the nail on the head. Thanks for posting this. I guess lots of us are more "redneck" than we thought, not just those from any particular part of the country...

Hey Coyote...
Lends a lot different meaning to the term "redneck", doesn't it?

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Christer...
You probably have a group of folks there that believe in the same values as we do! They may not be called rednecks, but regardless of what they are called there, another good name for them is patriots!

That crosses all borders, my friend!

Thanks for the visit today!

Hey Anon 12:34...
I don't believe the picture you put the link to is a good example of rednecks at all.

What I see when I look at that picture is a mob, a gang...a collection of in-bred, bigoted, ignorant, law breaking, foul examples of the human condition!

But that's just me...it's all in the perception, I guess!!

Thanks for the visit!

It is really amazing how a term can differ depending on where you live.
But yes I am a redneck and proud of it!
Excellent post once again.

Don't know if I am a "true redneck" but I do live in the desert in a manufactured home, have a rooster that can sit on my shoulder (what a mess that makes sometimes), and surrounded by a 6 foot chain link fence with three strands of barb wire on top. Hey, maybe that does make me a redneck. One of your recommended sites http://survivetheworst.blogspot.com/, interviewed me on its website. For some information how one in the far hot desert survives, look at that site. Gary

Hey Rod...
Good of you to come over today and share a cup. You're right about the terms we use loosely sometimes vary according to whre we live. What's important is the values that are shared bu all the folks we classify as patriots!

I really appreciate the visit, Rod!

Hey Gary...
I'd be willing to bet that the term would certainly apply to you without question, my friend!

I think of it as more of a term of endearment than an insult as some folks want it to be.

Sounds like your place is just fine to me...sure would like to see it someday!

Hey, thanks for the visit, buddy!

Hey Diane...
Nothing like a good surprise to make your day, huh? Just think, you never know what you may run up against when you visit the Hermit!

I appreciate your kind words about the answer to the one comment made that was negative...I also appreciate your dropping by, my friend!

OMG! I was just going over the new comments since this morning I cannot believe that nasty Anon comment. That is not Redneck that is just what you called them. Some people are just not right in the head. Will this kind of thing never end?
