Some Thursday Thoughts

While browsing around the web, I found this poem written by Robert Frost.

Somehow, it struck a cord with me today. I don't know why, but it did! So much so that I wanted to share it with you.

It may not affect you the same way, but it still makes for an interesting read for a Thursday morning.

Fire And Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,

Some say in ice.

From what I've tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.

But if it had to perish twice,

I think I know enough of hate

To say that for destruction ice

Is also great

And would suffice

Now, at first glance this short poem seems like a nice and simple piece. But is it? Is there more to this poem than meets the eye at first reading? Is there a hidden meaning deep inside?

This is one of those poems that the more you read and study it, the more it causes you to ponder on it.

This morning though, I think I'll just take it at face value...and enjoy it for what it is!

Let's get some fresh coffee, OK? We can toast to the talent of Robert Frost...!

Good Morning My Special One, are we headed out to the patio this morning. Weather here has gotten better but the mornings are still a little chilly. Have to reread that poem a few more times. Robert Frost was great.
Need some strong coffee this morning.

Hey Momlady...
Does give one reason to pause and re-read it, doesn't it?

Just a little something different today!

Hey, thanks for coming by today!

Hey JoJo...
Still a little cool for the patio, so it's back to the kitchen this morning!

Glad the weather is getting better there. Supposed to turn bad again here today. Oh well...that's the way it goes!

Thanks Sweetie, for coming over!

Bubba, your blogs on gravy have been interesting and the comments have led me to more thoughts than I could possibly post here. I am known for my "cement", as you may remember. I make my gravy thick on purpose...so it will stick to the biscuit, taters, rice, etc. (If one needs to thicken their gravy arrowroot is a great, natural ingredient.)
Coming back from Texas one year we stopped at a Waffle House for breakfast. Jason offered both babies a bite of his grits. Ashley, of course, ate hers right up but Nichole spit hers accross the table. Leah and I both laughed because we don't do grits either. For the longest time, if Nichole was offered anything white she would back up and check it out before tasting it. Might be the texture, who knows.
Kyd,your comment takes me back to the subject of CHICKEN FRIED STEAK vs. country fried. Only white gravy is acceptable...my opinion only!!

P.S. Gave Cygnus the complete works of Robert Frost one time. A favorite with both of us.

Frost is an interesting character… there's the poem about mending fences that's a fun read. I'm always intrigued by the interpretation of his work; nothing really is as it seems. With this one, either way, both fire and ice burn.

Hey Sis...
Grits affect lots of folks that way...some love 'em, some hate 'em!

Can't imagine chicken fried steak without some flour gravy!

I knew that Gygnus liked Frost fairly well!

Thanks for coming by today!

Hey Acorn...
That's why it's so much fun to discuss poets like Frost...there is always a lot of different ways to interpret his works.

Nice way to start a Friday...conversations and coffee with friends!

Thanks for coming by!
