Social Security For Freaky Friday...!

Many of us are receiving a check from Social Security, although some of them can be rather small. Here is a bit of history about one of the first recipients.

The first person to receive Social Security benefits was a lady by the name of Ida May Fuller, who retired in 1939 at the age of 65, and received her first check — for $22.54 — on January 31, 1940. Fuller had worked for three years under the Social Security system, so she had made some contributions to the overall fund, but only $24.75 worth. She came out ahead by the time she cashed her second benefits check — the second of very, very many. Fuller lived to be 100, passing away on January 31, 1975, thirty-five years to the day she received that $22.54. Her total lifetime Social Security benefits? $22,888.92.

Now that is one freaky story for sure! Someone actually coming out ahead of the Government for a change. Don't you agree?

Coffee inside this morning. The rain is back again!

My maternal grandfather lacked working 3 quarters to qualify for SSA. This was a plus for my grandmother as she made more with welfare. On the other hand, my paternal grandfather when he retired at 75 was one of the highest paid individuals in Kansas on SSA at that time. All balances out in the end.

I made brownies, frosted them and added sprinkles if anyone would like some chocolate goodness with their coffee.

I guess we're lucky to get anything the way the government has ripped off our SSA

I hope all the young folks get good, high paying jobs and pay into Social Security for a long time because SS is the only income I have.

A lady I new who lived to 95 got about 30 years on social security, she never paid into the fund but her hubs did but he died young.. The fellow down the street from us is almost 96 on flag day he has gotten his pension from a union and social security since he was 65 and brags about it..many get it & they are wealthy and don't even need it..what the hell is with that..My mother in law got her first husbands social security she was married to him over 10 years but hated him, he owned many businesses and she got the maximum and never worked much and had 9 kids, two marriages one loveless the other the fellow never supported her and was never around after having 8 kids, her oldest son my husband he worked like hell for his pension I did too and we both get social security, but most people have to live on it with no other source of income and nearly starve to death and lose their homes after their hubs or wives die, I don't get it in the richest country in the world why can't people who paid and paid be reduced to abject poverty when they are old????????
