Feeling My Age A Bit...

Do you ever get the feeling some days that this is more true than we would like it to be?

Posted by Picasa

Most days I don't think about it. I mean, I would probably feel it more if I did, ya know? However, here lately the weather has been really strange...hot one day, rainy the next. Sometimes in the morning when I first get up, it seems to take me a little longer to get to the coffee pot. The creaks and moans I hear are coming from my joints, and even the roomies know enough to stay out of my way until I get that first cup in hand!

But I have finally figured out how to beat this early morning problem. In the mornings, I now jump out of bed before my eyes are completely open, stumble quickly to the coffee pot before the screaming from my joints has time to register in my aging brain, and softly say "good morning" to the roomies before they start running for cover!

Now that I have got this routine down, why don't we get a fresh cup of coffee, my friend? We can sit at the patio table...getting down is not a problem. Sometimes getting back up is!

So true........
The snap, crackle, pop in my kitchen isn't the Rice Krispies!
I shall definately try your method. Beats the "old-fogey shuffle" I do!

Yeah, and its even harder when you got young children running you ragged. My wife and I waited until we were in our mid 30's to have kids and congratulated ourselves on good sense to wait until we had matured, and had our 'fun' while we were still young and able to move.

Getting on ground and 'springing back up' just isn't as easy as it used to be, sort of feel like that evolution time line of monkey slowly standing up and standing erect. Need a runway now, lol.

Kids sometimes kick our butts is all I'm saying, lol. Love 'em to death but yeah - durn, was I this hard on my parents?

I hear ya Jim, and some mornings are worse then others. The weather has a lot to do with it, too. When the pressure is low the joints hurt more than when the pressure is high.

And you're right about the sitting down thing. That is soooo much easier than getting back up.

Hey Sue...Nice thing about the "old fogey shuffle" is that we usually are going slow enough that we don't miss anything!

I really appreciate you dropping by this morning!

Hey Anon 7:01...sometimes I wish I could capture and bottle just a fraction of he energy kids have! I would be a millionare, I'm sure...

Just make sure the kids on't knock you down while they are running around you! Sometimes they don't know their own strength!

Hey, I apprecoiate the visit today!

Hey Eddie...and yes, some mornings are definitely worse than others!

I think the sitting down and getting up thing is the most obvious sign...sometimes a good loud grunt can help a lot in the whole process!

Thanks for coming by, Eddie!

Hi Jim,
LOL you can't tell me nothin new here. I already had to have 1 total knee replaces last year. I course I did some magor damage to it 20yr ago but the other one isn't much better and hip well...
But thats why I drink my coffee in the biggest cup I can find and sit it on one of those warmer things that they use for candles, the ones made for coffee cups dont' get as hot. Of course the longer you sit the harder it is to get up. LOL
Lets all sit on the patio and have some coffee. The first one that gets up has to help the rest up.:)

Hey JoJo...now see? That's why I just love having ya come around! I would never have thought about using the tea candle thing to warm my coffee!

I really like the "you help me, I'll help you" approach to getting up! Maybe a chance to sneek in a hug, huh?

Really am glad to see you this morning, my spercial friend!

Hey Jim,

The first thing I do after getting up is a HOT bath. It seems to take care of most of the aches and pains.

Take care.

Hey Catman...always good to see you here! Shower for me...I'm afraid I would like the hot bath so much, I would not want to get out!

Besides, I have enough wrinkles as it is!

Hey, Buddy, I sure do appreciate you coming by today!

Hi Jim;
Krill oil helps those joints.
But you can't take it because you are on blood thinner. Damn I wish I could think of something else to help you.

Yes, had to admit that I wasn't quite a spring chicken now that I have to be careful how I dry my hands or a few fingers will protest. Now coffee & chocolate sure help set things straight.

Hey Tony...appreciate the info on Krill oil, even though I can't take it. The joints are not really as bad as I make it sound, but we have to have some excuse to move a little slower, ya know?

Hot coffee and a visit from my friends is always a good tonic for me!

Hey Stephanie...Coffee and chocolate? Boy, I think I'm in love! You're right! They do seem to set things straight, don't they?

If nothing else, they make us forget about the aches for a bit!

Thanks, Lady, for dropping by today!
