This Explains A Lot...!

We are all aware of just how successful the Japanese are in the world of big business. They often are at the forefront of the modern electronics and technology, and have been the driving force behind many of the products we use today.

Have you wondered why this is the case? To put it simply, I believe that the main reason is education! Does that sound too simplistic for you? Then allow me to show you a couple of pictures and you can judge for yourself! OK?

First the Japanese...!

Pretty nice, huh? Now let's take a look at India!

I'm sure there are many reasons for the difference, and as usual it's the children that pay the price for the inequities. Seems like that's always the case!

Coffee on the patio, but we'll have to move the table. The guys are working out on the outside!

The US educates everyone while the other countries educate a select few. We test everyone while other countries only test the educable or educated children.

When I taught Japanese to a mother and daughter, they told me the daughter left her school, took a train to another school and got home about nine at night. Are we willing to do that? Getting a good education is difficult in Japan. There is lots of competition in Japan for the best education. Children are pressured from pre-school on to excel. Only a select few get a good education.

The professor from Japan who taught me Japanese said that Americans could think of things that Japanese could not and that Japanese were in awe of Americans. He said that the Japanese could make it smaller but could never think up things like we can.

Parents in Japan pay attention to children's education and encourage them, unlike the majority of American parents. Japanese parents spend an inordinate amount of money on their chidren's education after the school day is over.

India's caste system, denigration of women, poverty, and squalor is part of the reason for poor education of most children. Of course, someone else may have a better or more complete for the Indian education of children.

Practical Parsimony: Thank you for putting it in words that I didn't know how to express. This topic would make a good round table discussion! (over coffee, of course)

And guess to which country I am directed when I have trouble with my cable or internet??!!

Hope all is going well with the house, and the kitties are taking it in stride. Don't lose any of them down the big holes!

Big hugs -

Well said Practical Parsimony! There is a huge difference in the cultures around the world. But I do think that if some parents paid more attention to their children's education here in the US we wouldn't have so many drop outs. Hope all is well in "construction land".

Interesting post and yes would make a good round table.

See you on the Patio.

Hey Phyllis...
Hard to even imagine that big of a gap in the system, isn't it?

Pretty shocking! Thanks for bring some eggs and for coming over!

Hey Linda...
It certainly is easy to see where the focus is. I realize that there are many differences in the two countries, but surely there must be a way to improve.

Sad, for sure!

Thanks for a great input, my friend, and for dropping by!

Hey Sis...
I do a head count every night! They would have a hard time getting out of those holes, for sure!

Thanks for the visit this morning!

Hey Linda...
Sadly I think that many parents use the schools as a baby sitting service instead of a vehicle for the child's future. Of course, that's just my opinion!

I sure thanks you for coming over today!

Hey Jo...
Always room for some good discussion here on the patio!

Thanks, sweetie, for coming over this morning!

Not sure if the situation is the same but when our two boys were in school and we moved from state to state, there was a huge difference in schools. Some states were a year or two behind the others in what they taught in a certain grade.

Hey Dizzy...
Same principle applies, I think. Certain areas always seem to put education first, or at least close to the top of the list of priorities!

Public schools have so many factors to deal with that it's a wonder any of us ever learned anything!

Thanks for coming over this morning.

Over 12 years ago, I found a transcript of a high school graduation test from the late 1800's. I wish I could find it again. I seriously doubt many of today's seniors could pass a test like that one. It's sad that we are allowing substandard education. It is a disservice to our children and will be our ruin.

BTW, I hate to say this but Texas schools were way behind when we moved here. My sons said that they learned all the stuff a year ago.

Hey Ladee...
I saw one of those old time transcripts on the internet a while back, but I don't remember where!

I appreciate you coming over today!

Hey Dizzy...
I hate to say it, but I can totally believe it. Sad that there is so often a huge difference in different states.

Thanks again, buddy, for the visit!
