Christmas Rules For Dogs...!

For all you folks that have dogs around the house...here is a short list of rules you can post for them to read. They can read, right?

A Dog's Rules For Christmas

1. Be especially patient with your humans during this time. They may appear to be more stressed-out than usual and they will appreciate long comforting dog leans.

2. They may come home with large bags of things they call gifts. Do not assume that all the gifts are yours.

3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with fake antlers.

4. They may bring a large tree into the house and set it up in a prominent place and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for your humans, so there are some things you need to know:

- Don't pee on the tree.

- Don't drink water in the container that holds the tree.

- Mind your tail when you are near the tree.

- If there are packages under the tree, even ones that smell interesting or that have your name on them, don't rip them open !

- Don't chew on the cord that runs from the funny-looking hole in the wall to the tree.

5. Your humans may occasionally invite lots of strangers to come visit during this season. These parties can be lots of fun, but they also call for some discretion on your part:

- Not all strangers appreciate kisses and leans.

- Don't eat off the buffet table.

- Beg for goodies subtly.

- Be pleasant, even if unknowing strangers sit on your sofa.

- Don't drink out of glasses that are left within your reach.

6. Likewise, your humans may take you visiting. Here your manners will also be important:

- Observe all the rules in #4 for trees that may be in other people's houses. (4a is particularly important)

- Respect the territory of other animals that may live in the house.

- Tolerate children.

- Turn on your charm big time!

7. A big man with a white beard and a very loud laugh may emerge from your fireplace in the middle of the night......DON'T BITE HIM!!

OK...now that is out of the way, so let's have some fresh coffee! Whadda ya say, my friend?

Sounds like our house! Of course the puppy only goes after one ornament- my favorite one naturally!

Merry Christmas!

Isn't that always the case? Having two Siamese kittens (?), it seems they are always stnding where I need to be or wher I'm walking...epecially if my hands are full!

Our animals...just gotta love 'em!

...Lol...most of those 'rules' apply to some people i know, moreso than the dog...

Merry Christmas Jim...

haha. The tail wagging hitting the tree is a prominent memory I have from one of our older dogs. Good times.

I can just imagine...sort of like the "curtain climbers" playing ball in the living room right next to the christmas tree ( and often joined, I might add) by some grown ups(?)...

been there, done that! Thanks for dropping by!

That was a really cute post today Jim :)
I will have Lou dog here for Christmas dinner and she's bringing a friend, with a BIG LONG Tail!
I didn't decorate much so we should be OK.

Hey Blondie!

Good to see ya again...I was starting to think you forgot about the Hermit! I'm sure that Lou dog will be ok around the tree, but her FRIEND might be a little excited!..

Ya'll have a good time, OK?

Sorry.. got dyslexia for a minute on the first posts' sobriquet, swapping the "h" and "d"; got a laugh all on me very own1 and good punctuation, Hermit-- I got pictures that prove those may not be 'kittens' anymore...

On puppies:

... can't wait to move to the boonies. love them siamese, but ache for my Romeo and Juliette (my former twin Black Labs).

All in due time :)

love the puppy post! you should edit it for kitty content!

Yuletide greetings...

and the coffee sounds good after the wally-world fiasco! (sheesh!!!) [ AND THANKS!!!}

Hey Cygnus...sure do thank you for stopping by. As of yet I haven't taken the roomies over to Nanny's to see the tree. It should be interesting to see their reaction, for sure.

Have another cup...and glad the machine is road worthy again.

PS, I didn't put a tree up this year. Just wasn't in the mood.

And I'd never forget about you :)

Happy Holidays and keep those roomies away from the ornaments. They could have way too much fun with that.

C'ya soon :))

Hi Jim! Our puppy has broken almost ALL of those rules! But the older one Ziggy, has been extra good. Except that he knows that a gift waits for him too on Christmas morning, and hes been trying to find it.

I should have been here earlier to print this list for the evil little puppy. ;)

Very cute post Jim, thanks for the smiles.

Hey Lydia

Glad the older one is behaving...and maybe next year the little one will know better!

Only time will tell, huh?

You have a good one, Girl!
